"the Bluetooth Antenna gain has increased on Antenna1 from 0.21dBi (max) in the original 60Gb, up to 3.83dBi (max) in the new SKU. Antenna2 also sees an increase, from 4.13dBi (max) up to 4,92 dBi (max).
the WLAN antenna has improved, ANT0 is now 0.69dBi from 0.10dBi in th3 60gig previously, and ANT1 is now -0.26dBi from 0.91dBi."

Is the wireless really better in the 40 gig? I mean Ant1 in the 40 gig is now -0.26dBi............... how is that better than .91 dBi in the 60 gig
Dunno. All I can say is that in the few days that I've had the 40, I haven't lost sync with the sixaxis. But my 60 didn't drop the connection all that often either, maybe 2 or 3 times a week at most, and I played for many hours each week. After a month or so I'll have a better idea about my setup.
I only used the WiFi the first day I got the 60 and later to do some remote play with the PSP. It worked fine then. So far I haven't touched the WiFi on the 40.
The only real difference that I've noticed so far between them is the amount of heat coming out. The 40 runs so much cooler. The air coming from the top of the 40 is cool and out the back it's just warm. My 60 was hot all around.
Noise-wise I'd say they are similar. The 60 starts out quieter but the fans will ramp up. The 40 starts out slightly louder but once the fans get going I think it's a bit less noise than the 60 but not really much difference.

Word on the street however is that the new DualShock 3's don't experience any drop out either. In that respect, it could quite possibly be the controllers rather than the consoles that cause such drop outs. Though of course, an improvement to the antenna would help on the other side.
I bought a new 40 this past weekend to replace my 60 that kept dropping out.
It IS fixed, but what's weird is that the Sixaxis controller that came with the 40 is heavier than my other two controllers. It's substantial, I'd say it's a third heavier. It makes you wonder if the fix is actually two pronged.
Just for the fun of it I played with one of my original Sixaxis on the new system for 3 hours and it never dropped out (it had been dropping out every 20-30 minutes on the 60). Who knows, I'm just happy to have a functional PS3, even if I had to mess with eBay to sell my old one.

You had two 60gigs PS3s fail with the same issue right?

The sync drop isn't as much a problem with the 60's as it is with the location of the 60's. The 60's are weak and prone to drops in areas of cross traffic. I too had the problem and the 80 fixed it.
You can take a 60 to my home and it will lose sync very often, but take the same unit to someone's home here that claims to have no drops and it would not drop.
Your luck with a 60 and 20 will directly relate to where you have them installed.
In my case WiFi was better as well. When I used remote play on my PSP>PS3 in the bedroom on the 60 I'd get stutters in playback. On the 80 I get none.
