I ask about HD DVDplayers, and thanks to the help of many from this website, I found a toshiba a3 for 159 with 10 free HD DVD's, and no shipping... Thank you so much:) . Now I'm on a quest for a recorder thats a good fit for my 970, so I can transfer VHS, and record some games in great pic quality.

A few I've noticed so far are Toshiba D-R400 $99, Toshiba RS-TX20 $35, and Spectroniq SDR205 for $59. I already use a Sci Atlanta 8300HD STB that has DVR, and a HDMI connection, so thats what I'll be connecting it through? I know you can't record dvd in HD, but I'd atleast like the shape(16:9 and all) to come through as its viewed. Which recorder out there will fit me well?

Panasonic DMR-EZ27K or the Panasonic DMR-EZ47VK will do what you are looking for in a recorder! Another is the JVC DR-MV99B - DVD recorder/ VCR combo.
