Im looking to get some heavy duty french cleats to hold my wood and fabric panels. I would need them to be about 2ft wide.

Is there anywhere special you guys get them from or does HD carry them?

thanks

Not sure if HD carries them or not, but how about making them? Depending on what tools you have (table saw, router, circular saw) it wouldn't be difficult.

Lowes sales some metal french cleats called "Hangman", but they are kind of pricey. Around $10 or so for one set. It comes with a little bubble level so you are level with the one you hang on the wall.

I prefer to take MDF boards, use a table saw, and rip them down at 45 degree angles. That's how my Acoustical Treatments hang on my wall. I think I ripped them to about 2" wide, with the 45 degree angle. MUCH cheaper than buying something like the "Hangman" system at Lowes. I used the Hangman system to hang my Screen on the wall.....before I had access to a table saw to rip down my own.

When I did my OC703 panels I banded them with 1.5 inch oak. The fabric covered panels stand proud a bit from the wood. I took picture framing wire and connected it to the back and hung them like a picture. Very flexible. Much cheaper than the french cleats.

Now I see you didn't mention how large your panels are. Mine were 2 X 4 feet panels. Very light weight.

The fabric panels will be lightweight but the wood panels will be pretty hefty. they will be around 2.5 x 6' in 3/4 " Birchwood. I'd like a cleat that will keep it as close to the wall as possible.

This is a place that sells bulk supplies to framing shops. You would need to buy a minimum of 4 pieces and they run 5-6 ft depending on style. You cut to size. Worth a call to get the current price. 2 years ago the Super Cleat regular was $1/ft
