View Full Version : In market for new camcorder - can't afford HD... 480p camcorder?

I've got an older miniDV Sony Handycam.

Works great, but the picture quality isn't the best on my HDTV. My wife and I are expecting our first child and I'm looking forward to capturing every moment.

I'd love a new HD camcorder w/HDD but for $1,000+ - that just isn't happening right now.

So I'm figuring a camcorder that does 480p and widescreen should do the trick.
HDMI output would also be great.

Any suggestions?

Are you sure you don’t want HD?

I actually bought the Canon HV20 the same night I posted this.

Well I was recommending the HV10 off Amazon for 569.99. The HV20 is even better.

Luckily I was able to score the HV20 for just $100 more than that HV10 price.
Thanks though!
