Does anyone have any tips on finding a good HD CRT? As far as I can tell, the Samsungs are the only new models on the market. Is it worth it going for a used CRT or should I give in to the LCD/Plasma? If a CRT is worth hunting down, does anyone have any recommendations?

I've had best luck displaying HD on CRT displays (monitors & HD-capable TVs) using computer scaled output.
There are really good CRT sets out there by Sony, NEC, RCA, Princeton Graphics, Loewe. There are threads here and in the archive about particular CRT sets. You might want to check ebay local sellers or craigslist - often folks want to ditch a big heavy set for a slim flat panel.
Make sure your CRT set has proper video inputs, obviously whether or not it can resolve 720p/960p/1080p, maximum refresh rates at those resolutions. Better sets offer picture adjustments. If you don't have an HD tuner, then you might want to have that built into the set as well.

I use my CRTs as a console gaming display. I think it is a great application for them. I found mine on craigslist where there seems to be many people willing to let go of them cheap. Don't have either of mine hooked up to cable or satellite , just plugged into the wall and the consoles. Don't know what use you have planned for a CRT, but if it includes console gaming I have some experience with that.

If you can find Sony HD CRT then it's worth it, other than that go with a Sony BRAVIA
1080p in my opinion has the best looking picture ever with very good black levels.
