I've got an LG DR787T recorder that was just purchased in May '07. For some reason, it now seems to just "die" -- i.e. the time on the front goes dark, and if I try to turn it on either via remote or the on/off on the machine, it doesn't respond. Only when I unplug it for several (4-5) minutes, does it reset. Of course I have to reset the time, etc. whenever this happens. It's done this twice now in the span of a couple of weeks, for no reason I can fathom.
Question -- what's the problem, do you think? Should I just replace this thing, and get a new one? (EDIT: In fact what I've done is I just ordered a Toshiba DR400 from CCity...it was cheap, price-wise, and will serve as a back-up machine to the LG. No tuner or ability to record to RAM, but I'm going to try and hang on to the LG, get it fixed AGAIN, and hope for the best.)
I should mention that this thing's died on me before, and it had to have its drive replaced that time (this was after only about 3-4 months of use).
Needless to say I'm not happy with this machine at ALL... I'd just like to hear from anyone who might have a clue as to what might be causing this.
Thanks in advance,
DK
