hay guys, just wanted to pick some brains... a 9500lc that the convergence drifts alot on all colors. even when the pj is running and warm. (on for 6 hours ) any sugestions?

Guys!

Most likely, a full magnetics alignment is in order, more info here:

the projector was fine magneticly, also upgraded to 6pole cpc's we zero'd out the convergence and started from scratch. and it wasn't bad, no waving in the picture or anything like that.

Guys!

Describe what sort of drift exactly, the edges or entire red frame/blue frame relative to green? Horizontal drift or up/down? Which color(s) are moving? How much drift at the screen (millimeters) over what time frame? Has the convergence board been upgraded? Does the room temperature change much?

The two primary causes of convergence drift are thermal issues (a fan has failed) and magnetics not aligned. LVPS problems are a distant third possibility. Is a hushbox being used?

Are you trying to do a vertical stack of two 9500LCs?

Do the red and the blues drift together? Is the green grid stable or does it drift too? Any banding?

the lower projector is fine, no drifting... the upper projector is drifting size, lin, some vert zone issues. its like it forgets and everything slips.

My GUESS is that the problem lies in the control module. the board next to the VIM. Try as an experiment putting the board from the non shifting unit into the other one for just an hour or so and see if the drifting ges away.

Tim. A hushbox for the floor Marquee and another one for the ceiling one? That would be scary!

Boomrat. You might switch the convergence boards as well and see what happens.

If I'm not completely misinformed, electrolytic capacitors that are near the end of their service life are more sensitive to temperature changes than fresh ones. Changing the electrolytic capacitors out as general therapy probably wouldn't hurt. At least start out by changing the electrolytic caps in the convergence circuits.
