When is this coming to Blu Ray? If it is released internationally on HD DVD I would buy it that route but if it comes to Blu Ray and there is no hd dvd release in sight I may go format neutral.

Yet another totally pointless thread. SirDrexl 11-26-07, 11:50 PM Given Disney's rate of releasing catalog titles, and the kinds of titles they're putting out, I'd say it will take quite a while. The only way I could see it happening any time soon is if No Country for Old Men happens to win Best Picture. Then they might decide to release it at the same time as a tie-in. Even then I doubt it. dwisniski 11-26-07, 11:54 PM Disney announced a few months back that O Brother Where Are Thou is going to be released on Blu-ray in '08. I can't find a link but I do remember reading it. I am looking foward to this title as well. I can't find a link but I do remember reading it. I am looking foward to this title as well. That seems familiar to me as well. I hope it does come soon. It's a very fun movie! JOHNnDENVER 11-27-07, 04:58 PM My wife loves this movie. Pretty sure I'd buy it. I guess it's out on SD-DVD aye? I should just get for her for xmas. SirDrexl 11-27-07, 07:10 PM I haven't actually seen it, but if it is coming out that could be a sign they're ready to release some more Miramax titles. Probably half of the titles from Disney that I want come from them. ShagMan 11-27-07, 08:38 PM Beatboy's back, with more wild predictions!! 42041 04-19-10, 02:43 AM A quote from Roger Deakins that may be interesting to some (that I found on the little forum he runs): "No, I don't get to supervise every DVD release. I do often supervise a new master when they are struck from the original negative or file. I recently supervised a new transfer of 'O Brother Where Art Thou', which looks far superior to the original release to my eye. That should be out very soon." giantchicken 04-19-10, 07:36 PM I can't wait--I will pick this up for sure. The Oscar nominated cinematography will look excellent in high def. It's hard to believe that it's been ten years since this came out. I drove three hours to see this and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon because neither one was playing locally. Art Sonneborn 04-19-10, 07:41 PM It's hard to believe that it's been ten years since this came out. And harder to believe that we have been talking about the release coming soon for three years. I wish I had an unlimited lifespan and this would be trivial.:D Art Dave Mack 04-19-10, 08:07 PM And harder to believe that we have been talking about the release coming soon for three years. I wish I had an unlimited lifespan and this would be trivial.:D Art hear, hear. I know I'll be on my deathbed someday looking at the release schedule of the holographic version of Star Wars or something going, "damn....." :) 42041 04-19-10, 08:13 PM And harder to believe that we have been talking about the release coming soon for three years. I wish I had an unlimited lifespan and this would be trivial.:D Art Well, I doubt Disney would have run a new Deakins-supervised master just to sit on it. Sounds like the wait will be justified. While I'm sure they could've rushed it out, this was one of the very firsts movies to use a digital intermediate and it wasn't very high tech: "This was shot as a Super 35 wide screen picture and it was scanned at something less than 1.8K resolution on a Spirit Datacine." |
