I spent the last two days searching all over the web as well as various forums like AVS for the answer but haven't come up with much.

I picked up a R160 and hooked it up to my Pace 551 using a S-video cable as that's the "highest quality" connection it seems to support for recording. The R160 is then connected to the Samsung LNT4061 via HDMI.

DVDs play fine but I'm having trouble recording from the digital box. When I hit the record button, it says "You cannot record copy protected movie."

Aside from S-Video inputs, the R160 also has RCA inputs as well as antenna input. But using antenna won't let me record programs from the HD digital box...

Any ideas?

So apparently i can record some shows and not some others. I guess this has to do with the CGMS-A tags that get sent along with the broadcast signal for the programs I was trying to record.

The question now is how do I figure out what shows can be recorded and what can't?

You should probably talk with Barjo4 based on his post here (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=12344845#post12344845)... he had Pace and copy problems also.
