I have the Harman Kardon AVR247 with an interesting problem. I have a Panasonic (DMRE55) dvd recorder hooked up though the optical input #1. When playing DVDs that start off without audio (i.e. Star Wars Attack of the Clones) when the red screen is up before the audio starts their is a crackling- popping sound in the front speakers but when the Star Wars music starts, it goes away. Turning upsampling on the receiver gets rid of this. I have a Onkyo 802 DVD carousel and a Sony Blu Ray players that I also tried through the optical inputs with the same disc and they didn't display this behavior. The DVD recorder is also hooked up L/R on the analog Video 1 input but no popping through analog. This didn't happen on my previous HK 240. It also happens on other dvd discs at the start when their is no audio. What is causing this and is their a fix other than the upsampling? Is their a setting in the dvd player that I could try to possibly fix this?

Thanks...
