I'm looking at maybe picking up a PJ in the near future. Here's a little background info.

Right now I have a RPCRT (Hitachi) and love it. It throws a great pic and does everything I want. Only problem I have is the same problem most of us have...sitting still with what you have is never enough. Mainly I watch sports on TV, usually in HD. I also do a fair bit of HD gaming (XBOX 360) and SD DVD watching. The main problems are that A) the room that I'm putting it in connects to the dining room and B) there are sliding doors right next to the the screen. I'm looking for something that is cheap (under $1700), at least 1080i, an is known to work well in lit areas. Here is a pic that might give you a better idea. Any input would help.

You need a rear projection TV. There are several types of light engine, DLP/LCD etc, and of light sources (LED, HID). Some are quite slim, it's not your old projection TV.

I would not buy a projector unless you have light control. I have my HC1500 on a similar room and I can only use it pretty much after 6:00PM. I love it though, size kind of matters in this case.
