I just moved in and have three existing a/v wall outlets with cables attached (pic attached). There are no visible in-wall speakers in the apt but behind the wall there are cables connected and running to ??? - there are two outlets in the living area and one in the master bedroom. Is there a way to trace where these cables are running without tearing down the walls?

I'd like to try installing in-wall speakers myself. Wondering if I can take advantage of the apt being pre-wired as it is... thanks.

A professional installer should be able to use a "tone generator" to find out where those speaker runs go. Assuming that the wires were run with some basic logic in the first place, it shouldn't be too difficult to find the other end. You'd probably pay as much to buy a tone generator as you would to hire a professional to come run the wiring down for you. I have used one in the past, and it did work pretty well (although I was pretty sure I knew where the speaker wire was because I had it run when my house was being built).
