HT is 12x20x8 light controlled. Screen is 110" AT. Front row is 10 feet to screen. Have a In focus sp4805 and thinking of upgrading and looking for advice. I think I am down to two projectors but can't decide on which is a better bang for the buck. First option is to buy a Mitsubishi HC1500 for 800.00 today or wait a few weeks (to save money up) for a Panasonic PT-AX200U for 1300.00. Is the Panasonic worth the price difference or just gab the MIT's and enjoy it now?

I say research and see if you're comfortable with user problem reports on the AX200. Myself included. If it does not worry you, or you feel lucky, then it is a great PJ with a very nice image.

I'd have a look to see if you can find a close-out on a higher-end projector. I know that the Marantz 4001 (I think) was selling for around the price of the Panny and here in Canada, the Optoma HD7100 is selling for around that price as well. I've heard that the Infocus 7210 is selling for that ballpark as well. All of these PJ's offer very good value and are difficult to beat. They have better optics than than the Mits and utilize Darkchip 3 over Darkchip 2.
I am also running the 4805 and LOVE it. Are you happy with DLP? If so, I'd probably stick with it.
NOTE -- I have another thread talking about the Mits out of the box performance. Unless you plan on getting it calibrated, don't expect it to outperform your 4805. I just installed a Mits for a friend and we both agree that it does not perform nearly as well as the 4805 on either SD DVD or HD (despite the fact that it does 720p).

I would recommend calibrating any PJ before attempting to determine if it is going to be a satisfactory replacement for something you have been happy with.

Hi, I replaced my 4805 about 100 hours ago with one of the 7210s and couldn't be happier. I am also running it on a 110" screen, I had been running my 4805 on a 92" screen, and I have a better image now on the 110 with the 7210. I beleive it's still one of the best buys out there. If noise is an issue for you that might be a problem, it's at least as loud as your 4805, and sometimes goes up a notch from time to time. If the 4805 hasn't bothered you though this shouldn't be a problem. I still think it's one of the best buys out there. JD

I couldn't agree more.for under a Grand the unit is worth it all day, and two year unit warranty with the Mack bulb warranty makes long hour viewing painless.
