I currently have a Sanyo Z4 which does not accept 1080p. I'm thinking about making a small upgrade to the Sanyo Z5 which does accept 1080p/60 and 1080p/50. Is there any picture quality difference in displaying 1080p content(specifically Blu-Ray movies) to a native 720p projector that accepts 1080p/60 and 1080p/50 (Z5) compared to one that does not (Z4)?

Any experience with this/information is definately helpful.

Thanks.

I really don't think it will make that much of a difference. Accepting 1080p/24 and displaying 1080p/24/48/72 can reduce motion judder, but 1080p/60 isn't going to help that much.

I wouldn't pay an extra grand to get a z5 if I had a z4.

Save your money and get a 1080p projector when you can afford it.

Truly a waste of money, Plus it;s not all it's cracked up to be because their really won't be much of a difference in picture quality.

Ahh, I see. Thanks for the info guys. I was intending on selling my Z4 and buying a used Z5 so in my case the cost would have been about a $100 upgrade.

Do either of you know how the Z4 handles 1080p?

It does not handle 1080p. It takes 1080i, or have your media player scale to and send 720p. Either way it should not be much of a factor in your decision.

Thanks rickster904, that's pretty much answers my question about it. :)

IMO you would be spending money to project a image worse then 720P.I tried sending a 1080i signal to my panny ae900 (the Z4 takes 1080i aswell not P) and due to extra scaling it softended the image up.I already knew this would happen before hand but i wanted to see the difference for myself.
