I have purchased a Philips DVP3960 for some friends for Christmas. It says it is for 1080i. They plan on purchasing an HDTV but have not decided which one as of yet. Assuming they wind up with a 720p or 1080i do you think this upconverter will work nicely?

I have purchased a Philips DVP3960 for some friends for Christmas. It says it is for 1080i. They plan on purchasing an HDTV but have not decided which one as of yet. Assuming they wind up with a 720p or 1080i do you think this upconverter will work nicely?

I don't know the specific virtues of that player, but 1080i/720p is not an issue. The player does both and whatever display they get will convert both types of signal anyway.
