Hello,

I have a Sony XBR4, Yamaha YSP-4000, PS3, Wii, DirecTV HR20-700, and soon an XBox 360 and perhaps a WinXP Media Center PC.

Due to an unknown limitation that the YSP-4000 (no audio out in any format) I had to hook everything up to my TV and pump the audio out to my YSP-4000 and to my headphone amp.

While this works, my biggest issue is that system volume can now be controlled from only one remote the YSP-4000 since I can no longer use the HDMI controller functions.

Since I am a newbie at universal remotes, I would like to be able to do the following:

When I set the TV to use internal speakers, that the main volume control on the remote be set to run the TV's audio. When I switch to external audio system that the same button control the YSP-4000 system. Is this a simple thing?

Next, I have a DirectTV HR20 and obviously I want the universal remote to control that device. I saw in Magnolia they had one that also had the colored buttons, but I do not know the name. Can this functionality be recreated using the Logitech remotes? Is there a "best" remote for controlling the DirectTV stuff?

Also, I see a lot of info about the Harmony remotes. My personal goals are not that of the professional. I want something that is easy to program, create macros for switching audio systems, and mostly change the channels and adjust the volume.

I prefer a hand held remote that can be operated in the dark just by feel and is simple enough for the wife to use.

Are there clear leaders in this field? I will read the forum here, but as we all know, it can take days to find info that people here know off of the top of their heads. Is there a lot of talk about the harmony remotes because they are the best? Are there others in the league?

Thanks,

- Roger

I'm having a hard time getting anywhere with cust serv. Can anyone tell me how to program the 880 to access the "DVR" button like on the orig remote?

How do I access "My Recordings" in the Dish Network VIP 722 DVR using the 880?

Thank you, Thank you, Thanks!
