I'm looking to purchase the Sammy DVD-R160, can anyone recommend it, or another one over it?

I'm looking to record data off my DirecTV HR-20, and be able to watch movies that I burned off a computer (current DVD player won't do that). I also would use its upconverting feature to watch DVDs and use my current DVD player as a CD player mainly.

Any issues with this DVD recorder?

I just bought a Sammy plasma that bundled this player with the tv as a promo package. I don't have it yet but it seems like a decent player from what I've read. Definitely not top-end but good enough for me and pretty darn flexible in terms of the media it can recognize.

Has anyone tried recordng from this. I somehow am missing a few steps. Have the Samsung dvd-R160 hooked up to a Sanyo VHS player and a TV. Play the VHS tape, watch it on tV. When I press the rec button on the DVD it show its recording. When done, tested the dvd. It looked as though nothing was written on it. Tried finalizing the dvd and it say error. Tried it on my computer. It says its a blank disk. Any help would be appreciated
