Ok i'm starting from scratch i put the 2170d1, 2170d2, and mid3 data settings in the service menu back to defaults the way i bought the tv. Now I have a kv-3-hs420 sony crt widescreen and have a ps3 via hdmi input #7 running at 1080i. Ok i maybe by tommorow i'll have both DVE and avia guide to home theater.
Now which one of those should i use to calibrate the overscan issue and straighten up the whole video, like HSIZ, HPOS, VSIZ etc etc. Can I pop in these dvd's into the ps3 and cailbrate from there? Also I do have the service manual and what does these terms mean " input a monoscope and crosshatch signal"..." Set to NTSC (DRC) mode"
Thanks...

Do you read any replies to your topics? Or do you just keep making new ones and ignoring the old ones? lol
Fair enough but I started adjusting 2170d1, 2170d2, and mid3, starting with 2170d1, 2170d2 first then mid3 last but i asked but got no replies about after adjusting those for hdmi input #7 1080i ps3, how do i go about adjusting for other inputs and modes without messing up the input #7? Thanks...

" input a monoscope and crosshatch signal"..." Set to NTSC (DRC) mode"
That means you need certain calibration instruments, which we don't have. Ignore all that, thats for a tech.. actually ignore the whole manual unless you mess something up so much that you need to copy everything back, but even then you should have your TV's defaults written down, for every input/resolution. If you don't know what you are doing then don't try until after you read up and find out what everything does. It's so much easier to mess up your TV more than fix it if you have no clue what you are doing in the service menu.

Not sure about your TV. On mine though i couldn't calibrate one input and get everything perfect. I had to use different settings in the mid 3's, cause once everything was fine in one res/input, it was off on another.

I say calibrate your most important input/ res first. So for you it would be the ps3 one. get everything perfect with that, without using any of the mid settings, like just by using the HPOS, HSIZ etc. Then after you get that perfect, if the overscan is still off on other inputs/res's mess with the mid3 settings to balance everything out. It's the only option, sucks i know! but nothing is the same, it's not calibrate one and everything is perfect.

Ok I didnt see this reply thanks it went down the threads... anyways So again load up my ps3 and just shrink the HSIZ and VSIZ and HPOS and VPOS also right? Now do i use the MID3 settings for this? Also what if i want to adjust other modes and inputs where do i go without messing up hdmi input 7?
