Good morning everyone. Newbie here. I know I should probably most this in the regular DVD player section, but I know BD players upscale as well, and I'm sure that more of you have tried both standard DVD players in addition to BD players.
I also know that it has alot to do with the TV you have. I truly believe that you get what you pay for, and don't mind spending top dollar for great sound and video quality. With that said, how would non-BD DVD look on a BD player compared to that of the same disc being played on a Denon 3903? Would the fact that I have a 50" 1080p display matter? Thanks again for your help.
There are a number of people who claim that the Pioneer plasmas upscale as good or better than any of the Blu-ray (or even HD DVD) players. You might be happy just feeding your TV a 480i signal and seeing how that looks. Most of the the people here, including myself, have never heard of the Denon 3903. If you are referring to the 3930 it will blow away any of the BD players for DVD playback.

Thanks, Miata.......
Yes, I was indeed referring to the Denon 3930. I'm probably going to go with a higher end upscaling DVD player such as the Denon or a Rotel, and wait for a good dual BD/HD player to be released, and pick up one of those down the road.

Moved here.
Actually, the Samsung BD player with the Reon chip, the Tosh XA2 HD-DVD player with the Reon chip will for all intents and purposes equal the 3930 for SD-DVD upscaling. In fact, the 3930's have been pretty flaky may be less reliable than the HDM players. At least the HDM players get more frequent firmware updates.
The newer Rotel DVD players are overpriced for what you get compared to some other players.

Pooperscooper;
Thanks for your feedback, and hello neighbor (I just moved to Waltham, MA). My 110FD is being delivered this week and I am looking to pick up a DVD player sometime before the end of the week. Do you know the model of the Samsung BD player you mentioned?
