I have an RCN Motorola DCH 3416 box. When I connect digital audio out to my XR-55 A/V receiver I lose volume control on the RCN remote.

Is this normal? I can't get an answer from RCN.

Normal. When using digital out the audio is still 1s and 0s, nothing to control.
