Im sure this has been discussed plenty. It took me a long time to decide on a t.v. I dont want to do that again with a DVD player can someone just tell me which to get. Ill be watching a lot of Dora, Shrek, Mary Poppins unfortunately crap like that for the next 5 years. Sounds like a lot of fun I know, Thanks for your time.

Well nowdays it's very complicated to buy a good player. I give you some suggestions for different possibilities :
)Oppo 981 0r 980 : Only if you are not going to get any Blu-rays or HD DVDs in future. It plays DVDs with a very good quality, can be made region free, supports almost any format except Blu-ray and HD DVD. It's a fine investment if you have a huge library of DVDs. It's a very good value for the price and it offers a an excellent performance (both model).
)Philips DVP5982 : This is a DVD player for those on budget or not willing to spend lots of money. Does a good job of upconverting DVDs, can be made region free, has USB 2.0, plays lots of formats except BD/HD DVD/SACD/DVD-A. If you are not about to spend lots of money, this is a player worth the price too.
)PS3 : Excellent DVD player, Excellent Blu-ray player, supports SACD (however the 40GB version doesn't play SACD), can stream media from computer, supports lots of formats (Divx coming soon)
)HD-A3 : cheapest HD DVD player. Good HD DVD performance, Good DVD performance.
Based on your expectation, you can choose something that suit your needs. If you can be more specific of what exactly you want, it's easier to recommend.

Thank you for your reply. With 3 kids under 3 years old, the wife and I dont get much time to watch many movies. To be honest we really dont have much time to even think. So I guess Im just looking for a good Disney/Pixar DVD player. I dont want to spend to much more than 250 bucks.

I feel your pain... :)
If I was you, I'd just get a name brand upconvert player since ya know it will play all your movies and cost ya maybe $70-100. No way you're gonna get a Blu Player for $250 or less this year or next.
Take the money you save and buy some fun movies since BB etc has a ton of DVD sales...plus your wife will be happy ya saved some money.
I got a 5 disc HDMI upconvert player at Wal Mart and it works/looks great...fill it with kid movies etc and you're good to go....cost $69.

You should be cautious and check out this thread before considering the Samsung 1080P7. Seems to have a few major problems.

I would get an A2 or A3 HD-DVD player. The difference between SD and HD is significant. I had the Matrix box set in SD, and it looked good on my expensive upscaling player. I just got the HD-DVD version, switched back and forth while playing both simultaneously, and there is just no comparison, and that's on my 720p DLP. The A2/A3 is so low in price now, and is as good for upscaling as the Oppo or other popular upscaling players, I wouldn't go the upscaling route at this point in time.

I would not go with Samsung DVD-1080P7 no matter what reviews saying.
Had this player for a week for a "test-drive" and among other 3 players that I was testing and comparing at that time, I considered Samsung as the worse one. If you need DVD player like Samsung and in the same price range then I would better recommend to look at Pioneer DV-400V or Philips DVP-5982. Just my opinion of course.
