I'm thinking of putting rope lighting on my 100" screen with a dimmer. Will this dimmer effect any of my sound system with a buzz? I was thinking of locating the dimmer right next to my receiver.

If the dimmer is on the same circuit as the receiver, yes it may cause an issue. It also may not be an issue.
