AVS: You guys come highly recommended. Not only did the 2+2 poker message boards recommend posting, but so did one of the tech guys at the broadcasting company I work for.

Here's my story ...

Currently, we're rockin' out 1991-style with a boxy big-screen with speakers bought at a garage sale and a VCR. We're making investments in our house and have ordered a custom home entertainment center/wall unit with room for a large television. I need help picking out the right television.

The TV cannot be more than 60 inches wide or taller than 38.5 inches, and it cannot be a DLP. HDMI inputs are also important as I could see myself hooking up a computer to it, including my current laptop.

I also plan on purchasing a PS3 for infrequent gaming/storage of photos and music/playing of Blu-Ray DVDs.

I am planning on going with the Bose 3.2.1. system (heard good things about it) for speakers. Picture quality far outweighs sound quality.

The TV will be around 90 inches away from where we'll be watching (narrow room, I know). My wife and 3-year-old son have perfect vision; I wear glasses.

Money is not a major hurdle. Say anything $4000 and lower is fair game. I just want a television that's going to last me for a long, long time. I do not want any "burn-in" or fading issues, either.

I can also get discounts through my work on Sony, Samsung, Dell, Panasonic and HP products. But I have heard exceptional things about Pioneer and am impressed with HP's functionality. .

Thank you in advance for your help.

Grats on the upgrade approval =)

If your thinking about using a pc on it, you might want to look into 46-47inch area lcd's. If your not going to be using it much for pc than I'd go plasma. For that price... I'd be seeing if the 50inch 1080p panasonic would fit. About $2199 area. Then grab your ps3 and be out for under 2700.

For speakers, I think you will find ALL audiophiles will say bose are the biggest rip off in the business. Please research seperates, eg, receiver, and speakers. Heck you could buy 5 of the insignia speakers at best buy and blow that bose set away for about 200 bucks, then just add a receiver.

About your burn in concern, plasmas are much better today, and if you break it on for 100-200 hours, you shouldnt have any issues at all.

Pioneer is killer, but for 1/2 the price panasonic's plasmas are so close the average person can't tell. Put that money into something that matters more. SOUND. Remember sounds is just as much if not more of the experience.
