Imagine my surprise a moment ago when I turn on CNNHD and the live show I am watchng is in actual HD! A discussion of Shawn Taylor's death and all three participants are in glorious HD!

WOW. Not a big deal...just a nice thing to see.

Yes, actual remotes in HD! A good sign.

Ho hum.... Couldn't be any less excited than I am about getting the (s)news in HD. In fact, I am extremely disappointed in all four of the new "HD" channels Comcast has added this week. Wake me up when Comcast gets FX and SciFi in HD....

See my answer in the Detroit thread, it may not be the problem but it is something to check out.

CNN-HD blew me away a few weeks ago with the debate. STUNNING HD and what I've seen since then is pretty darn good. I get audio drops often, but hopefully that will be fixed when my H21 is replaced.

Wake me up when Comcast gets FX and SciFi in HD....

Sci-Fi would be great if they actually showed good sci-fi.. Very little HD stuff right now anyway.

Anderson Cooper is in HD right now. This is all a good sign. I find 480i intolerable and the more we get in HD the better...even if it is news.

Edit: Well it was a moment ago...split screen is SD.

Looking forward to getting this on Comcast on 1/8.

It puzzles me how the Situation Room isn't in 16:9 Widescreen HD.

You'd think the studio with the thousand monitors and so in there would be in HD.

You'd think! Perhaps soon.

I like having the bottom scroll crisp and clear and traveling the entire length of the panel. Much easier on the eyes than the SD version.

My cablesystem (Buckeye) is adding Fox Business HD channel soon. That should be interesting! Fox tends to hire very attractive female talent.

It just came up here at my location, fair to say the facilities in Atlanta & DC are not HD and only stuff coming out of NY are?

I believe the facility in Atlanta is HD, seeing as how that is CNN's base of operations. New York I believe is #2. Out int he OPen hosted by Rick Sanchez is from CNN Atlanta and that show is in HD.

Anderson Cooper has been in HD on and off these last few days. The other day it wasn't, lastnight it was. Lou Dobbs has been in HD since I've been receiving it.

I suppose Blitzer is in the Washington DC facility, so I think that may be the one not in HD. Kind of dumb though considering the Situation Room is 3 HOURS long. That's 1/8th of your daily programming, why NOT have it in HD?

I would like to get CNN HD but Dish does not carry it. I am afraid I will likely had to switch to DirecTV when my contract is up. Too bad Dish.

I mean no offense here but aren't those channels on the "nerdy" side? I would think that the majority of people would rather have something else in HD.

CNN is a great news station and I was very happy to see it in HD. It makes MSNBC hard to watch. I will still watch Keith Oberman. :D:D

Nope, Atlanta is not HD.

It HAS to be.

Out in the Open hosted by Rick Sanchez (primetime) is in HD. Well the studio that Sanchez hosts from is. I know because a segment last week, Sanchez walked off the set and outside and the Atlanta skyline was clearly visible, and he even said the city of Atlanta. It was like for 5 seconds where he ran off the set (part of the segment he was doing) but I know he mentioned Atlanta and I saw buildings from Atlanta.

I definitely know how Atlanta looks, i'm from Savannah and my sister lives in Atlanta.

I've been watching CNN-HD for the past 30 minutes and ABSOLUTELY NOTHING has been presented in HD (newsroom with anchors, weather lady with map, field report, etc.) even though the screen graphics keep saying it's in HD. What a fake! What a waste of a new HD channel from Bright House Networks.

For me it is night and day. It does not even come close in pic. I am also watching on a 60 inch screen.

Sorry, but WRONG! :p

Out in the Open is hosted in NYC from the same studio American Morning and AC 360 originate. That episode you saw may have been a one-off.

Wow.....
Just for clarification to you new viewers, the main CNN Newsroom programme is NOT HD. This is because it is based out of Atlanta, which is in the process of being upgraded for HD.
HD programmes usually originate from their NYC headquarters, and include things like
American Morning
Anderson Cooper 360
Out in the Open
In the Money
etc

Shows not in HD include
CNN Newsroom
The Situation Room
Larry King Live

May have been a one off, but the studio was in HD and so was the show that night.

And it was Atlanta, that I guarantee.

OK, but that doesn't change the fact that shows regularly based in Atlanta are not yet in HD.

LARRY KING LIVE in HD

It has happened sporadically, when he's not in his home studio in LA.

What do they produce out of LA besides Larry King? And what do they produce outside of DC besides The Situation Room? Which is more likely to go HD first?

On the one hand, I'd say TSR, since it fills 3 hours a day. On the other hand, TSR is mostly just daytime filler (while LKL is primetime), and when TSR is covering important breaking news, it's almost always already broadcast from NY anyway.

It's been my default channel since I got it on Comcast in April. Excellent picture. HD got me to watch documentaries, and now I'm watching more news.
