Hello,

I would like to set up a big screen (TV?) at my apartment. I was initially considering buying a 1080p HDTV, but I find moving a 42”+ T.V when my apartment lease gets over a pain. Also the TV would take up too much space I think, so I am considering to settle with a 720p HD projector instead. So I was wondering if there are any projectors that someone could recommended or what sort of things do I keep in mind while getting one.

The main purpose of my projector would be:
- Hook up Xbox 360 for HDDVD and occasional gaming
- Use PS3 (to convince my wife to let me have one is another problem for another forum :) ) for some light web browsing/mail and HD movies
- Play audio, video and games from Vista PC
- Would be placed between 15 to 20 feet from where I sit, in about a semi dark room

So keeping the above objective’s in mind, what sort of projector would you folks recommend to be my first projector? A 1080p projector is way out of my budget. So I am going with a 720p. I was looking at the following projectors that were on sale on CC website:

Optoma HD32
Mitsubishi HC1500
Sony BRAVIA

What things do I need to keep in mind while getting one?
I tried to talk to the CC projector sales rep but he confessed to be as clueless as me :). I am looking at avsforums as well for any more information.

Also what other type of cords/receivers would I need to connect the Xbox360, PS3 and a desktop to the projector? Also was there any way to have some speakers in other room (wireless?) for listening to music via my PC?

Thanks.
Rohan

well i have the mits1500 i bought alittle over a month ago now for pretty much the same reasons as you except for the 360.i have mine hooked to my ps3 via hdmi cable and i have a sony surround system with the optical out cable from ps3 to the surround system. the mits comes with cables for your computer hookup if youw ant to use it for that, but for ps3 xbox and a cable box you have to use either component or hdmi for your hd signal.i am very pleased with this projector for its all around use.it is plenty bright,i had the aw15 before this for two weeks-i loved the colors of it and the fact that it was a sony but the projector just seemed to dim for me and others also if you look around.i hated to return it but in hindsite i am much happier with the mits.the only diff between these two for me is additional brightness witht he mits but you dont get lensshift like you do with the sony.so placement may be a problem for you or not.i just have mine on a coffeetable in my family room displaying on a 100inch screen i bought from cc.im just a newbie to this myself but from comparing the two.the better all around projector is the hc1500 over the sony.but if i was someone who had a dedicated theatre room and watched only movies i would of kept the sony.if that damn sony was only alittle brighter i would if kept it lol.but you cant go wrong with the mits not to mention its about 4hundred less than the sony so that would buy you a screen some cables and an entry level receiver/surround system

the epson home cinema 720 sounds good, from all the problems with Panasonic i would probably steer clear of their AX models. Dimming bulbs and what not.
