Let the fun begin. I guess it will soon be time to start the Official Sony VW200 thread. Who will be the first?

View Full Version : The first spotting of the Sony VW200. Alan Gouger 11-29-07, 08:21 PM Let the fun begin. I guess it will soon be time to start the Official Sony VW200 thread. We should see some feedback tomorrow or the weekend. ca1ore 11-29-07, 09:50 PM I have one on order - 'anticipation, antici-pay-ay-shun'. Alan Gouger 11-29-07, 09:58 PM I have one on order - 'anticipation, antici-pay-ay-shun'. Looking forward to all the reports. Catdaddy67 11-29-07, 10:03 PM ca1ore, I hope you paid for overnight shipping! 8) RobZ 11-29-07, 10:03 PM Please don't compare it to the VW60. I'm broke! :o ca1ore 11-29-07, 10:41 PM ca1ore, I hope you paid for overnight shipping! 8) Well, not sure when I will actually get it. Figure they will be hard to come by for a bit , so maybe mid-Dec. Kipp Jones 11-29-07, 11:48 PM I am waiting for the VPL-VW300... joerod 11-30-07, 12:18 AM It's nice to know one of those is scheduled for delivery to me tomorrow... :) Jason Turk 11-30-07, 03:10 PM How did you get into my basement Alan? :) ca1ore 11-30-07, 03:31 PM I am waiting for the VPL-VW300... Why not the VW400 or VW500? I suppose each person defines for themselves what constitutes 'good enough'. I am hoping that for me it will be the VW200 as I am tired of 'projector upgrade-itis' and would like to 'buy and hold' for a while. Andrew P 11-30-07, 03:52 PM I usually cant wait to hear the reports (I usually buy new projectors ASAP and was a former owner of the VW100), but for some reason I am not excited by this projector. Hope the initial reports are glowing because I am looking to upgrade again :) Jason Turk 11-30-07, 03:54 PM I think the price is the problem. People expected it to be about the same as the original Ruby, or at least a huge improvment. Alan is playing with his now and said it looks great...but he'll report more details soon. Alan is playing with his now and said it looks great...but he'll report more details soon. The price is a big issue for me. If I am going to spend close to $15K I am going all the way and getting a 3 chip DLP. Plus I expect the performance to really blow away the VW60. Not sure if that is realistic or not? pteittinen 11-30-07, 04:14 PM It's $20K over here in Finland. The specs look interesting but it needs to be exceptionally good to justify the expense. ca1ore 12-01-07, 09:14 AM Holding my breath here waiting for some first impressions. Red to purple .... anyone! mark haflich 12-01-07, 09:25 AM The Sony site (not that one :) ) said expected next shipment 12/01 but that is more a computer generated guess than anything else). ca1ore 12-03-07, 04:48 PM Hmmnh! Thread is quiet - either not a lot of these in the country yet or the price is scaring most people off. joerod 12-03-07, 04:53 PM This thread is quiet because we have an official sticky thread for it... :) Plus not many have shipped so far... I only know of one other owner besides myself and his name is Alan... :D AVSRichard 12-03-07, 04:57 PM I saw Alan's last night. Nice unit. Er...uh...his VW200! Richard Wet1 12-03-07, 09:44 PM Hmmnh! Thread is quiet - either not a lot of these in the country yet or the price is scaring most people off. I think the later is more likely. ca1ore 12-03-07, 11:58 PM This thread is quiet because we have an official sticky thread for it... :) Plus not many have shipped so far... I only know of one other owner besides myself and his name is Alan... :D Ah yes, apparently I am blind - so won't be needing the VW200 after all :D Also nice to see that you waffle as much as I do - could have sworn your last postion on this was that the VW60 was good enough and you were going to wait for the VW200 features to trickle down to the VW70 next year. Way to hold out mate! joerod 12-04-07, 07:09 AM I tried. But when I found out everyone wanted me to host the NFC, AFC (Championships) and the Superbowl this year I caved. :) Plus when I had the oppurtunity to be one of (if not the first) to get it I decided to RUN intstead of WALK. I am glad I did. I truly feel like I am DONE for long while... ;) ca1ore 12-04-07, 08:50 AM Sounds awesome! scaesare 12-04-07, 10:02 AM I am waiting for the VPL-VW300... VPL-VW220, or 221... whatever it takes. Jason Turk 12-04-07, 10:25 AM The price is a big issue for me. If I am going to spend close to $15K I am going all the way and getting a 3 chip DLP. Plus I expect the performance to really blow away the VW60. Not sure if that is realistic or not? I can comment that in Alan's opinion it blows away the VW60. That is taking price out of the equation...considering it is 3x more, that makes it a tougher comparison... Andrew P 12-04-07, 10:58 AM I can comment that in Alan's opinion it blows away the VW60. That is taking price out of the equation...considering it is 3x more, that makes it a tougher comparison... I realize Alan like's a few of the features of the 200 (I don't like Motionflow at least the way it is implemented on SXRD tv sets). I want to see measurements compared to the VW60. I love reading reviews on this forum, but I prefer to see the actual numbers. It is very rare on this forum that a new PJ buyer has anything negative to say about their PJ. mark haflich 12-04-07, 11:10 AM Ok. It won't do 35 ft lamberts on an 8 ft wide 1.3 gain. Right Joe?. Does that suck or what? On/off CR with auto iris in any mode is under 100,000! Boy does that suck. If I am going to spend over a grand on any projector it better do better than that. And ANSI CR. Under 1000. WTF? I give up. What is Sony thinking? Maybe if it only cost $699!. Just another foreign corporation ripping us good ole Americans off. Who do they think they are? |
