View Full Version : NBA on TNT HD sixers610 11-29-07, 08:36 PM When you see players running down the court.. there's a blur around them that looks reddish/orange.. somewhat faint... anyone else see it? TallGuyMe 11-29-07, 08:47 PM When you see players running down the court.. there's a blur around them that looks reddish/orange.. somewhat faint... anyone else see it? yeah.. I have it. PQ is lousy... pixelation... ccotenj 11-29-07, 08:48 PM i flipped over during the commercials on the football game... yea, pq is seriously lacking in that game... pixelation all over the place... sixers610 11-29-07, 08:48 PM thank you! just making sure as I just bought the tv. Yes, I am a rookie. sixers610 11-29-07, 08:52 PM its a shame that NFL HD is not free. ja2bk 11-29-07, 09:33 PM Commercials look better than the game. That is unfortunate. primetimeguy 11-29-07, 10:43 PM Saw highlights on ESPN and they had the same issue, so definitely a TNT issue. Boy was it bad. Jeremy W 11-29-07, 10:50 PM its a shame that NFL HD is not free. Wrong thread. lSunNYl 11-29-07, 10:57 PM why is almost everything on TNT-HD look so pixelated lately ? mx6bfast 11-29-07, 11:05 PM why is almost everything on TNT-HD look so pixelated lately ? They are testing out if they can degrade HD even further. They've gotten away with the linear stretch, tremendous sized popups, and labeling everything as HD. This is just their next step. Jeremy W 11-29-07, 11:07 PM They've gotten away with the linear stretch I wish they'd use linear stretch! They use non-linear stretch, which looks horrible and cannot be corrected. kaydigi 11-29-07, 11:17 PM I wish they'd use linear stretch! They use non-linear stretch, which looks horrible and cannot be corrected. How about use no stretch. Then you can stretch content as you see fit and others can watch it OAR. Today in Richmond, VA they unstretched two local channels; NBC 12 and 35-2 (MyNetwork). So I am holding out hope for National channels. rrainwater 11-29-07, 11:18 PM They are testing out if they can degrade HD even further. They've gotten away with the linear stretch and labeling everything as HD. This is just their next step. Until today, their NBA coverage on TNT-HD this year has been excellent. Jeremy W 11-29-07, 11:22 PM How about use no stretch. That would be the best thing. Unfortunately, I think the best we'll get out of Turner is linear stretching. wyattg 11-29-07, 11:39 PM I was wondering if everyone else was seeing the mosquito attack at the Staples Center...This is worse than the Cleveland game where there were real bugs flying around. vrbaba 11-29-07, 11:44 PM yeah, just tuned in and it was horrible, and then I checked on this forum to find this thread. It has been good till now (nba hd feed on tnt). devotiondoubt 11-29-07, 11:46 PM When you see players running down the court.. there's a blur around them that looks reddish/orange.. somewhat faint... anyone else see it? http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/I/11G8FJ6EM6L.jpg http://members.farmline.com/stress/sunflower/VISIONS/donkey.jpg http://outdoor-toys.k-i-t.ru/p/37/images/2-dozen-24-soccer-ball-hackey-sackshacky-sackfoot-bagskick-ballsparty-favorstoys.jpg HDStud 11-30-07, 12:18 AM LA/Den PQ is really nasty. This is some of the worst HD I have ever seen. Its worst than the ND NBC games. It pixelates even when the players are just walking slowly. Also has random orange pixels all over the place. Watching on D*, TNT should be ashamed. Icon Smith 11-30-07, 02:03 AM TNTHD used to have decent PQ on their basketball games. The pixelation and what I assume is a cross color convergence issue (the weird colored artifacts) is getting worse. Capek 11-30-07, 02:17 AM so much pixelation! Like on player's faces when they're standing still even. Definitely the worst it's looked since I can remember. TallGuyMe 11-30-07, 05:36 AM Conspiracy theory #1... that game was brought to us by "Dish Network".. any chance it was only the DirecTV people that got lousy PQ? niembre 11-30-07, 08:02 AM I have Dish and it was horrible on there too. By far the worst HD broadcast I have ever seen! mx6bfast 11-30-07, 08:28 AM I wish they'd use linear stretch! They use non-linear stretch, which looks horrible and cannot be corrected. MY bad, I meant non-linear. (my son was trying to type the same time I was and apparently that word got deleted) LabtecX 11-30-07, 11:30 AM Conspiracy theory #1... that game was brought to us by "Dish Network".. any chance it was only the DirecTV people that got lousy PQ? Comcast here & it was horrible! First game was bad too... both the game (Celtics winning by almost 50) and the PQ! Addicted2HD4Now 11-30-07, 11:42 AM Comcast here & it was horrible! First game was bad too... both the game (Celtics winning by almost 50) and the PQ! Comcast here too. I agree, had to be the worst PQ I've ever seen for a sporting event, including NBC. Really disappointing considering it was only the second Celtics game I got to watch in HD this year and turned out to be less than HD. Hopefully tonight's Celtics game on ESPN will be better although I'm not too worried about ESPN's PQ. hayt 11-30-07, 11:44 AM Absolutely god awful PQ. NBA on TNT used to be pretty good, except for quick camera pans (usually after a basket, as players got back down court) but last nite was a new low. Red blotches, shimmering, stuttering...YUCK! Knicks looked almost as bad! ISAIAH MUST GO!! Now what can we do about the travesty that is TBSHD?????? (to be fair, TBS MLB playoffs looked sweet in HD) bendog2784 11-30-07, 11:51 AM I usually watch the HD feeds of sports because the SD looks like over compressed garbage on my large SD projection tv. I noticed the blurs also. Looked like crap. kcalccal 11-30-07, 01:56 PM Comcast in Mass. here. The absolute worst I have seen. By comparison the Bruins on NESN and Football on NFL looked 100x better. mpgxsvcd 11-30-07, 01:58 PM What is funny is that I never have watched NBA basketball until last night. I flipped through the channels and saw how bad the broadcast was. I watched it for several minutes trying to figure out if it was the broadcast or my TV. I finally figured out it was TNT so I will probably never watch an NBA again. Hey at least they got me to watch it for 3.5 minutes. That is more than normal. It is kind of like the Miami Dolphins running the table in reverse. Yes, they get the record but not really the one they want! Jeremy W 11-30-07, 02:04 PM During the postgame show, they were showing some SD highlights from a game that was on FSN Bay Area, and the PQ had the same issues as TNT's games did. But the PQ of the show itself was just fine. Maybe they were having some trouble with the equipment that receives the remote feeds last night? gts007 11-30-07, 02:05 PM I havent seen any NBA on TNT yet this season, but is it as bad as some of the ESPN games where the HD is so fuzzy that it looks like standard def 16:9? ESPN is real hit and miss, I've seen nasty, almost SD-looking games and I've also seen some very crisp and clear ones. I finally figured out it was TNT so I will probably never watch an NBA again. Um that doesnt make any sense. You figured out it was only TNT so why never watch NBA ever again because of one network? I've seen some great looking NBA HD telecasts, so don't start believing they all look like that. limacharliewhisk 11-30-07, 02:29 PM Watched the Knicks-Celtics game, and the issue was most noticeable with the close-up cameras. Didn't notice the same issue with the main game camera, though. Worst TNT basketball broadcast this season. mattzane83 11-30-07, 04:52 PM I had to get on here and make sure it was as bad for me as it was for everybody else. It was so bad that I thought my tv was broken. And why would you never watch an nba game again b/c the color was messed up on 1 game that you watched? Makes no sense. dylan24 11-30-07, 07:38 PM Picture quality was horrible for me also, here in L.A. The result on the court was pretty nice however. :) NetworkTV 11-30-07, 07:55 PM When you see players running down the court.. there's a blur around them that looks reddish/orange.. somewhat faint... anyone else see it? Maybe it's TNT's answer to the Fox Glowing Puck... ;) eaner0919 12-01-07, 12:19 AM I thought it was me and I was bummed thinking I set my TV's settings all wrong. That was the worst HD viewing I had seen since buying my set and HD box romanesq 12-01-07, 03:42 PM Watched the Knicks-Celtics game, and the issue was most noticeable with the close-up cameras. Didn't notice the same issue with the main game camera, though. Worst TNT basketball broadcast this season. This was an absolute horror show. It wasn't stretched and it was clearly intended to be HD but it was like watching an old TV with an antenna that wasn't working properly where you can't get the focus in properly. Truly a stunning piece of garbage sent to us. No damn excuse for it. ccotenj 12-01-07, 06:09 PM Maybe it's TNT's answer to the Fox Glowing Puck... ;) lol... does that mean we'll get the little streak behind the ball when shaq throws one his line drive bricks up there from the free throw line? :) NetworkTV 12-01-07, 06:20 PM lol... does that mean we'll get the little streak behind the ball when shaq throws one his line drive bricks up there from the free throw line? :) Yes, but that's an interlacing issue... ;) Icon Smith 12-01-07, 09:23 PM I was watching the highlights of TNT's game on ESPN Sportscenter and the red splotchy crap and pixelation was visible then as well. I guess ESPN is getting TNT's lousy feed as well. ccotenj 12-01-07, 09:28 PM Yes, but that's an interlacing issue... ;) ROFL! :D limacharliewhisk 01-25-08, 03:07 PM Resurrecting this old thread, as the image on last night's TNT game between the Warriors and Nets looked really good from all of the cameras. I wasn't watching the game in full detail, listening to it more, but whenever I looked at the screen, it looked like a nice crisp image that was comparable to what the ESPN/ABC games look like, and a bit better than the NBA TV games that get rebroadcast on Mojo. SRIBB43 01-25-08, 03:48 PM Next week is a great doubleheader on TNT Mavs @ Celtics Spurs @ Suns |
