It seems that LCD (and maybe DLP) projectors don't last long as the polerizers and panels are failing due to heat from the bulb. Even units that are maintaned well are having blue polarizers fail and panels too. When these failures occur often in a couple or more thousand hours the projectors repairs are too expensive.
Have we reached a point with the inorganic LCD that the life can easily exceed 10,000 hours?

Hum, seems like not much confidence on the subject...

I doubt it, my blue polarizer crapped out on my Sanyo z3 after about 4000 hours...Sanyo fixed it thanks to the 3 yr warranty, but they didnt do the best job, now i get lcd burn in which i thought was only a plasma thing, but now i get discoloration where the black bars are in 2.35:1 movies when i go back to full hdtv screens, i dont know...its probably best to buy the better deals like the 1000 dollar projectors since they only seem to last about 3 years...i think i will go with Epson next, they seem to have warranty extensions and I hear only good things about their support. From looking at their site it looks like they do a pretty good job, advisory alerts and other stuff

I think the z3 had inorganic panels but as for the polarizers it wouldn't matter anyhow.
If they can get the bulb temps down the projectors would last. I wonder how high a wattage the Rear Projection TVs are usings?
