I bought a game on my Wii (super metroid) and it is choppy beyond all hell. Regular Wii games are fine, though.

I found an old SNES I had at my parents' house and I grabbed a few games for it, and guess what? Choppy.

Now I have tested 4 games (Super Metroid, Mario World, Yoshi's Story, Final Fantasy 3) and they are all choppy. Choppy enough to make it seem like something disappears when it should just be flashing.

I tried the side input, AV1 and AV2, all the same result. I even tried the coax input for the SNES, still choppy.

Any ideas? It sucks that I can't play my old games on my TV :(

I know this doesn't help much, but my son fairly often plays Nintendo Cube and N64 games on our 30PW8420, the digital-tunerless version of your set. He uses the side ports and has no problem at all. Maybe your TV settings are incompatible in some way with some of the games. Check your display settings and choose the lowest resolution, if it will let you do that. Another idea is a faulty cable, though it should create the same effects on all games.

Just my 2-cents worth.

Thanks for the reply!

I have 2 types of cables to hook up the SNES, composite and RF. I tried both on every single input (only 1 RF though, obviously)

All same results.

Even happens when I play an SNES game on the Wii (Super Metroid).

No idea whats up, there's no way to change resolution that I know of.

Since my 30PW8420 doesn't have an internal digital tuner (only analog), I use a set-top box, an LG digital tuner. The LG unit allows me to change the signal resolution input to the TV, with options for 480i, 480p, 720p (which my set doesn't support), and 1080i, but only on the digital side.

The Nintendo stuff hooks up on the analog side (using side composite ports), however, and automatically displays at 480i. I have no idea what else could be causing the problem.

Can you try the Wii on another TV?

Sorry for the lack of posts, but..

I got a component cable for my Wii. Fixed the problem with Super Metroid being choppy on the Wii.

I tried SNES on another tv, works fine. I guess my "factory refurbished" Philips TV is just crap?

I tried on all the inputs I could (AV1, AV2, Front) and all the same problem.
