View Full Version : The Company is $60, are they mad??!! Dr Kain 11-30-07, 12:37 AM I saw The Company today at work and noticed it was $60. Are they mad? They priced one friggin movie at $60??? I'm sorry, but that is a rip off for a one disc release. gubarenko 11-30-07, 12:57 AM it's mini-series shadowrage 11-30-07, 01:03 AM Is it really just 1 disc? If so that is insane. I would say retail it at $30. I have around 60 BDs the only ones that were more than $20 are The Host, 28Weeks, CE3K. Spidey box cost less than that. GamerGuyX 11-30-07, 01:12 AM Is it really just 1 disc? Yes NickFoley 11-30-07, 01:19 AM Shopping for HDM at a B&M store is your first problem. gubarenko 11-30-07, 01:39 AM dvdempire says it's 2disk set dominica 11-30-07, 02:04 AM It is 2 disc. Enjoy GamerGuyX 11-30-07, 02:06 AM dvdempire says it's 2disk set Thats the last time I trust High-Def Digest on something like this. digason 11-30-07, 11:46 AM I paid about $35 for it on Amazon after 10% off. Dr Kain 11-30-07, 01:12 PM Shopping for HDM at a B&M store is your first problem. Can Amazon have it in my hands the moment I click pay? Can they ensure the case and everything will be 100% mint? If it does not work, will I be able to just exchange it to them right then and there within minutes? Didn't think so. shadowrage 11-30-07, 01:18 PM Can Amazon have it in my hands the moment I click pay? Can they ensure the case and everything will be 100% mint? If it does not work, will I be able to just exchange it to them right then and there within minutes? It's actually less of a hassle than most B&Ms. Their customer service has no equal. You tell them what's wrong and even if they can't help they fix it within 10 minutes. rboster 11-30-07, 01:23 PM Can Amazon have it in my hands the moment I click pay? Can they ensure the case and everything will be 100% mint? If it does not work, will I be able to just exchange it to them right then and there within minutes? Didn't think so. I guess the lesson is you can't have it both ways....cheap(er) price AND a title at your finger tips. I don't understand about the case being mint since this title wouldn't appear to have or attain collectable status. Big Brad 11-30-07, 01:26 PM Can Amazon have it in my hands the moment I click pay? No, but you're paying a premium price if you want to have it now. I'd rather pay $25 for a movie versus $35 at a B&M store. Can they ensure the case and everything will be 100% mint? I've ordered 30 or so movies from them and have never had a problem. Their packaging/shipping is top notch! If it does not work, will I be able to just exchange it to them right then and there within minutes? I've only had a problem with one disc, and they sent me a new one PLUS a prepaid shipper to ship the unplayable disc back. Didn't think so. Why are you complaining again? -Brad Rakesh.S 11-30-07, 04:11 PM Can Amazon have it in my hands the moment I click pay? Can they ensure the case and everything will be 100% mint? WaldorfSalad 11-30-07, 04:42 PM IIRc, the OP works at BB. Maybe they have a rule that you can't buy from Amazon. ;) But Dr. Kain, surely you can get it for less than $60 with employee discount? P.S. Btw, as others mentioned above, you sure do seem to complain a lot. :D Isgrimner 12-01-07, 12:48 AM The Legacy of Kain/Soul Reaver games were pretty cool. Ok got that out of the way. I ordered a 10 disc DVD set from Amazon (little embarrased to say it was Cirque du Soliel) and it came with a duplicate disc. I called them, they immediatly shipped out another set, and gave me a $25 code to use on their site for the hasstle. I do see the allure to going and buying something directly from a store, and many times I don't want to have to wait for shipping either, but my expierience with Amazon has always been pretty good over the past 7 or 8 years. shadowrage 12-01-07, 01:31 AM I would totally buy Cirque on BD. With those colors and costumes, not to mention it probably has the 'concert 3D' look to it. Perfect HD material. Damages is $55 for the 3disc set. Really cool series. I will pick that up. Sony can get some of them right. Dr Kain 12-01-07, 12:02 PM IIRc, the OP works at BB. Btw, as others mentioned above, you sure do seem to complain a lot. :D Yeah, it is cheaper, like $14 cheaper, but it wasn't that I planned to buy it, I never heard of it. It is just that when I saw it on the shelf the other day, I couldn't believe the price it was. As for Amazon, I've had bad luck with them. I ordered a Godzilla movie from there 2 years ago, they sent me a bootleg. No, it was not from one of their rip off Market Place sellers, it was from actual Amazon. The entire line of Godzilla movies they had were from the same company and bootlegs. That is the major reason I do not buy from them. Another reason is that 3 of 5 times I ordered DVDs from them, the cases were crushed to pieces during shipping. Yes, the disc might not have collector's value, but I still paid for a 100% mint condition copy, and I expect even the case, insert (if any), and cover art to be 100% mint. The other thing is I'm more than willing to pay a few $ more to be able to grasp something in my hand than to wait for days to hold it. Sorry, that is just the way I am. And for complaining, I do it just as much, but people only seem to remember someone for complaining rather than praising. I do not know why, but I am the same way. I read posts, but the only ones that stick out in my mind are those from someone who complained about something. But hey, it is all good. If we all thought the same way, the world would be boring. rboster 12-01-07, 01:15 PM You've had some bad luck at Amazon. Since paying for the Amazon prime program (almost creates a complusion to buy ;) ), I've bought 90% of my HDM and other media from them. I guess I've been lucky, since I've only had one slightly crush corner on a dvd box. They currently plastic wrap the movie around a piece of cardboard and mail in a large box (doesn't seem cost effective, but does provide safe delivery=which may equal savings in the long run). I have bought a 126 separate packages in the last year with only one incident. SheepFactory 12-01-07, 01:18 PM I wish they price the tv shows better. Weeds for $19 was brilliant. I impulse bought both seasons (I never would have otherwise) and it became my favorite show. As for Amazon, your experiences seem to differ wildly from many others who have posted in this forum over time. I've never heard of anyone getting bootleg DVDs or cases that are "crushed to pieces" 60% of the time. Anyway, like many others, I have had nothing but good experiences with Amazon. I buy all my BDs there because (a) they cost a lot less than at BB, etc, (b) free shipping (Prime), (c) no tax, (d) 10% discount (soon coming to an end though). Even when I got a BD with a damaged case one time they overnighted a replacement to me. Doesn't get much better than that. kevinca1 12-01-07, 02:32 PM Ok enough bickering |
