I have the hc1500 hooked up to a ps3 via hdmi. Anyway ive noticed that even though the pj is 720p native, blu rays look better when ps3 output is set to 1080i. Is it actually better or are my eyes bad lol?

Lots of us HD-DVD users find the very same thing with the A2 - 1080i looks a lot better. Likely means the Mits has a superior scaler, particularly for 1080i, which makes sense since that's what most broadcast HDTV is in. Don't worry about it - you're not crazy :)

I have my PS3 set to output 1080p60 and my HD-A3 to 1080i(the max for that machine) which to me looks better than matching the players output to the projo's 720p resolution. The little HC1500 does a great job down scaling to 720p.:)

I've read a bunch of similar reports. 1080i appears better to most people.

I personally don't see that much difference. If anything, I prefer 720 for my HD sources, since fast motion scenes seem to be smoother. Plus, setting all my sources to output progressive greatly reduces the need to fix the 97% overscan bug every time I switch to a different source - it's only necessary when I play the occasional PS2 or Wii game. I have tried it at 1080i for a few months and I agree there may be a SLIGHT bit of added sharpness, but this comes at the cost of other problems in my situation.

It's always best to use the setting that looks best to you in your system and with a variety of sources. There can be differences in PQ due to source components, cables, video switching, etc. So always just select what works best for you.:)

Your eyes are just fine. Three 720p PJs I have auditioned/owned all share the same fate. They seem optimized 1080i. Sounds as though your mits is no different.

That's because the PS3's 720p BR output is horrendous! Why don't you set your PS3 to 1080p24hz forced?

I've been noticing some weird stuff with my Hd1000u the last couple of days. I was watching a DVD at 1080i and I noticed some interlacing artifacts, "combing" I think. I then set my A1 to 720p, and the problem seemed to go away, but I put in an HD-DVD and I noticed some horrendous aliasing along hard edges. Setting it back to 1080i seemed to solve that problem.

Then today I noticed the same interlacing artifacts with the A1 set at 1080i. It's weird, because I haven't noticed those in ages before the other day. I can only chalk it up to having a bigger viewing area, going from ~99 inches to 110 (I bought a High-power).
