View Full Version : Lawrence??
Timbelmont 11-30-07, 09:15 AM Does *anyone* know what's happening with the blu-ray release of Lawrence Of Arabia? It's been listed as "in the works" for a year.
It just never seems to get here. It's the one title my wife is looking forward to in my home theater.

SixkillerNYC 11-30-07, 09:20 AM My most wanted title by far - they've been saying sometime in 2008 for a while.
Donnie Eldridge 11-30-07, 09:28 AM My most wanted title by far - they've been saying sometime in 2008 for a while.
Yup...and one of the most anticipated titles of 2008.
FoxyMulder 11-30-07, 09:34 AM Be thankful they didn't rush it out....They must be doing a fabulous transfer of it and i'm sure it'll look simply stunning.
Russ Younger 11-30-07, 10:33 AM ^I agree. I would rather not buy a messed up version, only to double dip later for a good transfer.
RScottyL 11-30-07, 11:09 AM Yes the Sony insider has said that they actually have been redoing the master over and over just to make it look its absolute best. Should be a winner. Last we heard sometime in 2008 is still the plan.
Definately glad to hear it, as this movie deserves it.
From what everyone is saying, it should be at least a tier 1 or possibly even a tier 0.
Can't wait to see how great it looks!
Lawrence? I can think of only two types of people that are named Lawrence!!!!

Damn it, I was gonna tell that joke but you beat me to it. ^_^
John Ballentine 11-30-07, 03:14 PM Yep - where's Rob when you need him ???
wakashizuma 11-30-07, 03:25 PM This and Dances with Wolves!
YES.....
I LOVE Lawrence and Dances with Wolves. Can't wait for the BD versions. I'd say both deserve a 3-disc treatment. 2X50GB for the movie and a 25GB for extras.
Rachael Bellomy 11-30-07, 03:41 PM Sony offered up some kind of survey about what we'd like to see released some time back. I voted for Lawrence as one my choices. I's weady!
Cold_As_IceSMM 11-30-07, 04:30 PM Yeah, this should be great.
The superbit upscaled to 1080p doesn't look so hot in my opinion. I'm looking forward to this.

:)
When's LOTR coming? What about Jaws? Star Wars?
I kinda miss the (ironical) homoerotically titled "When's '8-Mile' coming out?" thread, maybe we can resuscitate that one...
Dan Hitchman 12-01-07, 01:48 PM It had better be from the most pristine 65mm elements possible with Robert A. Harris supervising every step of the process!!

luigionlsd 12-01-07, 02:11 PM As great as Lawrence on BD will be (although I've never seen it before), I'm sick of opening up old Sony titles and seeing promotions for Gattaca. I suppose that's like WB's silly Shawshank Redemption coming soon ads :(
MattGuyOR 12-01-07, 02:18 PM Hopefully Robert Harris has some say in how this will be transferred to Blu-ray. That is a must. I can't wait to see it, it's an amazing film. Dances, too. I almost went neutral back in the spring when Dances and Silence of the Lambs were announced. Finally went neutral just yesterday, and I'm McLovin' it! :)
