David Gimour's website indicates that this concert will be released on HD DVD. I just bought the blu ray version for a friend as a Christmas present. This disc almost makes me want to buy a blu ray player. Does any one know if the reference to this disc being released on HD DVD is true or not? I hope it wasn't a misprint.

As a side note to those in Canada, the blu ray price of the disc is $13.00 cheaper than the std dvd price!

I believe David's stuff is released via Sony/BMG, and therefore would be limited to the BD side of the High-def formats.

I too remember seeing that the original announcement said something about both HD DVD and BD, but it appears not. The DSOTM 5.1 SACD was originally announced as a DVD-A, but Sony-EMI managed to get that quashed in favor of their SACD format. Maybe the same thing happened here...

Yeah, I was bummed when they didn't release this in HD DVD. I bought the SD version and played through the XA2, looks extremely good, almost HD on my 1080p pj. The sound is also excellent and you get the same material on two discs as the blue ray, so for me, it's not enough to make me want to go buy a blue ray just for this.
