View Full Version : Ghostbusters, Run Lola Run and others listed in UK Mag as released in 2008
bigdaz07 12-01-07, 06:38 AM Hi,
I live in the UK and subscribe to Empire magazine. I have just received my copy and they have a pull out section in it that list some "coming soon" titles on Blu-ray as follows-
Run Lola Run
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon
Fight Club
Ghostbusters
All just say 2008
The issue is dated January 2008 and it does not give exact release dates or if it is just UK .
I have attached a scanned copy of the page.
I thought some people may like to know this and I can't find the information anywhere else. Apologises if this has already been posted but I couldn't find anything.
Thanks
Darren
Ghostbusters. Hope that one is released early in the new year.

Well I love this movie to, but keep your expectations at the right level.
Its an Anamorfed 35 from the 1984. So while it still will look good (I like A35), some people here can be dissapointed with the looks.
khellandros66 12-01-07, 05:46 PM Fight Club and Ghostbusters are a must for me thats awesome!

Sherardp 12-01-07, 07:06 PM I'd buy Ghostbusters
Preditor74 12-01-07, 07:26 PM I knew there was a reason I just bought my new 60GB PS3!
Ghostbusters is by far my favorite movie of all time....if I didn't buy my PS3 this would of forced me. Bring it on!
hamsterxcore 12-01-07, 07:54 PM Ghostbusters will be mine no questions asked, as well as Fight Club. I seriously look at my Ghostbusters 1 & 2 DVD set sitting on my shelf daily and think "Sony why have you not put this out on BD yet?"
Run Lola Run
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon
Fight Club
Ghostbusters
I'll buy all of these if they come out on BD here in the States.
J Brinkley 12-01-07, 09:17 PM Run Lola Run has been in desperate need of a rerelease for years. Hopefully the BR will do the movie justice. I'll be looking forward to this one for sure. Thanks OP for the scan!
nyprimus4 12-02-07, 08:35 AM Fight Club!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!
Merrick97 12-02-07, 02:57 PM Not to damper anyones enthusiasm, but paidgeek on bluray.com mentioned some time ago that Ghostbusters films were in pretty rough shape.
I want both of them in HD, but I expect it will be a while before we see them.
Paidgeek did mention that Lawrence of Arabia should be out next year.
Thanks for the information from across the pond. I wish we had a US equivalent of Empire over here.
Those are nice titles, and I've been waiting for CTHD for ages, as it was initially announced long ago.
Not to damper anyones enthusiasm, but paidgeek on bluray.com mentioned some time ago that Ghostbusters films were in pretty rough shape. They've been showing Ghostbusters 2 on UHD for a while now and it looks pretty much pristine.
Fight Club and Ghostbusters would make me veeeeeeery happy.
doctorxring 12-03-07, 01:57 AM Run Lola Run

rosscan 12-03-07, 02:28 AM Ghostbusters will probably be released in October 08 when the new Video Game comes out, So far titled as "Ghostbusters 3"

That is my assumption as well. Look for Sony to do a fully restored special edition set of both films sometime in 08...however it is still TBD about the title of the game bearing the official "sequel" title according to Game Informers article. Nonetheless, it makes perfect sense.
RScottyL 12-03-07, 10:00 AM I definately would love to see Run Lola Run in BD.
It has a great soundtrack also, and should sound great!
"Mannnnnniiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii"
johnnyknoxsvill 12-03-07, 11:30 AM Im just glad these arent Fox titles, as we would never see these.
lemming75 12-07-07, 11:27 AM I hope they actually do use the original Ghostbusters cover art. Nothing beats that logo on a black background.
General Kenobi 12-07-07, 12:05 PM Oh man I'd be all over Ghostbusters and Fight Club! Those are both high on my list. I'm surprised Snatch hasn't dropped on UK HDM yet:confused:
Damnationdoormat 06-07-08, 02:49 PM I dug out the 2002 Collector's Series and 2006 "Slime-Pack" Ghostbusters DVDs:
(Collector's ----- SlimePack)

Pretty big difference, unsure if one is superior to the other...?
Matt_Stevens 06-09-08, 08:16 AM The older HD transfer does not suffer from blown out whites and messed up gamma that obliterates detail in many shots. I'm hoping the horrid problems of the more recent HD transfer are fixed for the BD.

The version shown on HDNet is nice (has the blown out highlights above though) but a liitle too DNRed:

It will be interesting to see if Lola Rennt has the same yellow tinted crap transfer as the US version does.
FoxyMulder 06-09-08, 08:55 AM Well now i see those pictures the new transfer does look bad.
Yet the old transfer is also not that great. I hope they fixed all of it for the new Blu Ray edition as i like this movie a lot.
Matt_Stevens 06-09-08, 07:38 PM I have the old transfer on DVHS, with a 5.1 track muxed in. :) Me thinks I'm done with this title for a long long time. :D
