Does anybody have any idea when this movie will be released on Blu-ray by 20th Century Fox? This is definitely a classic Christmas movie and one of my favorites of all time. I'm talking about the original 1947 version of course...

Unfortunately, B&W titles, unless they have a "Casablanca-like" stature, will likely not be available in hi-def because the powers-that-be percieve them to have less mass appeal than color films. 20 Million Miles To Earth was colorized for hi-def release, I believe. . .

How about It's a Wonderful Life or the Wizard of Oz? Have there been any rumblings about HD releases of either of those fillms?

Wizard of Oz has been rumbling from Warner for a while... No official announcements, but it's assumed it'll be around sometime next year.

Well it's not the first time the studios would be wrong about something. I would to have Miracle on 34th, It's a Wonderful Life and the Wizard of Oz on HD. All are classics worth a space in everyone's movie collection.

Just a heads up, I noticed that this was available for pre-order on Amazon with a Oct 6 release data. Wonder if it would be worth upgrading my dvd?

I wonder if it will have that same strange artifact that the DVD and pay cable versions have in the right hand corner of the screen where it seems to "wave" for about the first ten minutes of the film.

Also, I assume the B&W version will be available but the listing at Amazon currently just states "color."

the new bd is the original b/w movie ONLY.
great decision by Fox not to include the fake-ass colorized version.
dvdbeaver has the review up, and they say it looks very nice.
