I need a workable code for my RCA DRC279 DVD player to input into my remote for my Panasonic TH-42PZ700U plasma television. Panasonic was helpful to the point they said they didn't have one yet. Apparently the DVD player is newer than Panasonic's code book and they haven't updated their list. RCA - well, you can't contact them in any expedient fashion, so here I am. Any help would be appreciated.

Are there any codes for other RCA DVD players to try? Many people get universal remotes than can learn the commands from other remotes if the codes aren't already known.

I should tell you that your RCA isn't a HD DVD player.
Since Panasonic has admitted to not having a code, I'm afraid you may be out of luck. You might try the "Remote Control" area or the "Plasma Flat Panel" forum.
You could buy a learning remote. Nothing fancy, something around $20US.
Out of curiosity: Did you know your player wasn't a true HD player?

I realize it isn't true HD, only the emulated variety. I may move to a true HD DVD sometime. We don't use it a lot now, but this one actually replicates very well. I grabbed it mostly because I could make all the connections I needed with two HDMI cables. Just more convenient. I'd really like to incorporate the DVD function into the TV remote, however. Maybe Panasonic will add it soon.
