I just return a Samsung DVD-AR650. It had most of the features I needed, and was better than what I could find at Best Buy and Circuit City, but I'm antsy about trusting the Samsung for long-term digital archival of SD broadcasts.
Is there a better alternative to the Samsung; one that isn't a rebranded Funai? I particularly need DVD-RAM, ATSC/NTSC, QAM, RW, and HDMI and component out in addition to composite. Ideally it should be as quick at channel switching as the Samsung, come with an easy to use remote, and have active passthru. I don't require DivX, WMA, chase, or decent EPG.
My VCR is dying, so if there's a combo with VHS that features TBC and MTS then I'd be happy. Dubbing not required.
The JVC DR-MV99B interests me as the only unit I've seen that doesn't seem cheaply thrown together. Any thoughts?
