View Full Version : Borderless plasma display?

I was at a car show today and I saw a very interesting flat panel video display at one of the booths. It was unusual because it had absolutely no border between the edge of the picture and the case. The pixels went to within about one row of the edge of the screen and the screen was surrounded by a thin sheet metal case. There was absolutely no bezel. It was literally 1/8" (or less) between the active picture area and the outside of the cabinet. Upon close inspection, it looked like an EDTV plasma display with a non-glossy screen. The display was about the usual depth for a plasma, or LCD. It was definitely not a rear projection display. Unfortunately, I couldn't see enough of the back to find a manufacturer name.

Has anyone seen anything like this? My best guess is that it was a plasma panel behind some kind of optics to make the image go right to the edge of the screen. It was very effective though. The pixels were razor sharp and there was no change with viewing angle. It would have made an eye catching TV.

Apparently, they are specially designed panels which do, as you say, have resolution [virtually] up to the edge... no special lenses.

Brings videowalls into the 21st Century doesn't it?!

First post, so sorry for circumventing URL rules...

Or (presumably) the manufacturer:
