Any chance this will make it to HD-DvD?

New Line will probably release this title on Blu-ray and HD DVD, but I would think this is a case where they would release the first Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003), and time it for a specific holiday, like Halloween '08.

So far New Line is just dipping their toes into the HD formats.

I wouldn't hold my breath.

New Line is releasing their films in both Blu-ray and HD DVD at a snail's pace.

I sure hope so... any TCM movie in HD would get me geeked! :D

I'm sure they will sell all of 1257 copies of this gem.

I dunno, horror (especially violent horror) sells. There is and continues to be a pretty high "torture porn" ratio of releases to HD.

I would love to see any TCM on HD, but maby the Beginning would have the best picture quality since it's the newest in the series?

I've love to see TCM on HD too, but not this one.

I liked this one simply because of the sheer unrelenting violence onscreen. It pulled absolutely no punches and by doing so, actually made you feel sorry for the characters instead of wanting them all to die,(like most crap that passes for horror these days). They died anyway, but that's besides the point.

See the original (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0072271/). ;)

I just find it funny that people who watch these newer "remakes" without having seen the originals say that these are "gory".

Nothing beats the original 'Chainsaw'. That movie is like a nightmare come true!

That is for sure.
Most movies really don't get to me, but TCM is actually plausible. Movies when I was growing up like Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th were nothing compared to TCM. Scary as hell!!!

Well, tcm the beginning IS way more gory than the original tcm which had hardly any blood in it at all. TCM 2 was pretty gory, but more of a black comedy than horror...

I actually liked the two new TCM remakes/reimagenings... They are certainly a lot better than the original tcm 3 and 4! :)

Now the original tcm is arguably the best of the lot, but I don't see any point in an HD version.

I actually hate the original. Yes, I prefer the remake but not because it is more gory. I just think the original is not all that interesting. Anyway, I would definately rather see the remake in HD.

I think it's the most potent nightmare on film, I'd love to see it on HD in all it's early 70's grainy low-budget glory.

That said, I don't think of it as gory, unrelentingly brutal, yes, but there is very little on-camera blood-letting. I think TCM tricked an entire generation into thinking they had seen something far more gruesome than they had.

I also think the remake is not a bad film, but has nothing on the original, nothing.

Don May and Dark Sky Films did an amazing job restoring it.

Yes indeed, how do you feel about the "missing screams" issue? I still would reach for the Dark Sky.

I gotta admit I actually didn't even realize it myself until I saw comments start popping up on various forums. :o

Though yes, the Dark Sky release is still far, far superior to every other home video release up to this point.

God I wish, it would counter-balance my chagrin that Anchor Bay doesn't (yet:)). I saw Dark Sky's SD DVD list for 08, and frankly it's a bit of a let-down to the horror fan, really obscure low-tier (even for me) stuff.

The only one I'm sure I want is a widescreen restored version of Michael Reeves SHE BEAST, which isn't a terribly good movie, but somehow they're the first to get horror-cult-queen Barbara Steele to do some commentary (and she's in it for all of five minutes).

Yeah, unfortunately many of the small horror/cult DVD studios are feeling the crush of larger-and-larger Tuesday DVD release slates and shelf space competition. Not to mention nearly cut-throat competition over title license acquisition between studios. :(

I still see alot of smaller horror titles get shelf space at the rental shelf. Even my local walmart has a fair selection of cheap horror dvds every tuesday. Just picked up "Plasterhead" and didnt even know it was out until I saw it on the shelf.
