I own a Samsung 61" LED DLP Model HL-T6187S. I have it connected to a Denon 587 amplifier via optical cable (5.1 dolby setup) and component video, toshiba hd-dvd player via hdmi, and comcast hd digital cable box with dvr via hdmi.

The problem I am having is this, I can't get the audio, meaning my speakers connected to my amplifier, to work when the source on the tv is hdmi1. the speakers on the tv work fine when hdmi1 source is chosen. when i change the source on the tv to "Cable", the amplifier works and all 5 speakers work perfect, but i no longer have the nice hd picture. it's back to analog. I've got component video cables running from the tv to the amplifier for video and the TOSlink optical cable for the audio. What I'm trying to do is get the best picture via HDMI and have my speaker setup to work as well with that through the amp. Sorry that really sounds confusing.

I'm hoping someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong. I messed with this for 5 hours yesterday changing input sources and switching cables around. I think it should be an easy fix. Thanks for reading! - Brett

figured out my own problem. i had to switch the optical cable from the back of the tv to the hd cable box in order to get the digital sound. go figure.
