I wasn't sure where to post this.

I haven't had a problem with my Xbox 360 HD DVD player up until playing Transformers in HD.

When I put this disc in it starts up on the screen where is says that its "updating". Not sure what its updating, but anyways it just freezes on that screen. It won't even let me hit cancel and the moving progress bar freezes too. I literally have to turn my Xbox 360 off and then back on to get out of it. It will do this every single time unless I unplug the wireless adapter. As long as I unplug the adapter, the whole movie will play perfectly. This is the only movie that it has done it on and I've played over 10 other hd DVDs.

Anyone know if this is a defect with the HD DVD or the player?

Go over to your system blade and select memory. Your HD-DVD drive should show up in there. Delete everything on it (note that this will permanentely delete any bookmarks you have) and then try and load up Transformers again.

If that doesn't work, you may have to sign out of XBOX Live when going to watch it.

I just recently tried Transformers on my 360 add-on and had the same problem as well. My 360 is wired but I ended up skipping through the updating screen by mashing buttons on my remote.

Patience is key. It will say," UPDATING " for a few minutes but it's going online and downloading info to your system. Let it load (5 minutes + for me) because this will only happen when you first put in your movie. Later on, the web features or cookies ar already downloaded to your system. Knocked Up is the same way.

Skipping the update is what's causing the problem. Let it download or don't have your 360 conneted to the internet. As said before, you'll have to erase your memory in the system blade first since the original download has become corrupted.

Patience is key. Besides, the HDI stuff is pretty cool, and more will become available.

I rented this from Netflix and when I put the disc in the drive yesterday, it worked just fine for me. For me, it took a few minutes before the "updating" finished. Just be patient. It should finish eventually.

Thank you very much for your input!

I'll try letting it sit there until if finishes. Did you guys notice that the progress bar will stop moving? This is what made me think that its frozen.

Actually that happened to me at first, but there was an update last week to the 360 on that title that I believe fixed that problem. Since the update I haven't had a single lockup on it.

The other responder was correct. IF it FREEZES ... then you must go to the system blade and delete all the memory on the HD-DVD drive. Then it will work like a charm.

go to the player menu and turn off internet access. Makes the player faster and more reliable.

There are a number of threads on transformers and the 360 add-on, but this one was the best of the bunch
