As I was watching my Toshiba TW40x81 die before my eyes . . .

First the screen started to scramble the colors. The image began to swerve around . . . and then POOF! picture went out.

Now, I have a blank screen with a red LED near the power button flashing.

Is my tv dead? Can it be repaired? What part do I need? Where can I purchase it?

Please advise.

I had the exact same set for about 7 years. It served me well. I can't tell you how to fix it but I bet it won't be cheap.

It is time to give it a good burial and move on to the next generation. CRT RPTV's lose brightness over time. A new set, whatever technology, will be sharper, brighter and will have more vibrant colors. Just my opinion.
