So far the players tested have been the XA2, A2, and Xbox 360. It will cost you a DVD though and some way to burn it.

AVS HD 709 (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=948496) has been updated to Beta2. This version is functionally the same as the original, so the HD DVD update is mainly intended for anyone that didn't try the Beta1 download.

The biggest change you'll make is to contrast and brightness. This alone could make a big difference in picture quality.

But the colors will only be as optimal as your own eyes and judgement are. To really do it right you'll need color filters at a minimum. A hardware colorimeter would be even better.

ah well, I'm not really that upset about the current picture quality..at least not to the point where I'd buy anything or pay anyone to professionally calibrate it. I just found this free thing and figured if its easy enough I might as well do it.

I'm I guess what you'd call an untrained eye..it's my first time ever doing this.

The AVS HD 709 (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=948496) disc has been updated to v1.2 for a new release. The "EXAMPLE FOR PS3 AND WINDOWS" process can be used for creating an HD DVD using Windows if you select the "HD DVD (.exe)" instead of the AVCHD version in steps 1 & 2. When you're done burning the disc in step 4, after choosing the "HD DVD (.exe)" download to begin, you will have an HD DVD compatible disk that will play in HD DVD players.

I am using an LG BH200 on my main TV.Are both HD-DVD and Blu-ray the same and would it natter which one that I use? I most likely will use the BD version but would like to know if there is a difference. Thanks for the info.
