Hey guys, I recently bought a Sharp Aquos 32D43U

I run Illlico(canadian) Standard Definition Digital Cable on a Scientific Atlanta Explorer 940

1st, I tried plugging the regular coaxial cable cord from the E940 into the LCD TV

Results ?

Awful looking image quality, blocky and pixelated, tried MOST settings you guys have suggested on this forum, nothing makes it better. Either SmartStretch or Regular 4:3 aspect with bars looks WAY WAY worst than my 20 year old Zenith CRT. The output is set on "Video" on the TV and it says i'm on Analog channel 3 (shouldnt it be digital?)

2nd, I tried plugging the RCA Cables from the E940 into the LCD TV

Results ? the exact same

3rd, I tried (by inadvertance) plugging those same RCA cables, into the Blue Green Componant input plugs on the LCD TV

Results ?

SUPER CLEAR PICTURE with no blocks, no noise, no pixelization, marked DIGITAL 480i channel 3 on Composite output, but with a slight problem, black and white with weird white spots (obviously due to the fact that the cable box doesnt have the right composite outputs, and I wasnt even using the right cable)

Here is my question to you guys

How can I get better "digital" picture quality

Without buying an HD Box ? (maybe)

I didnt pay 800$ for a 32" that looks worst than a 20 year old dusty Zenith tube :p

help me out, i'm a complete newb to this kind of stuff

Thanks in advance

When it comes to cable HD installs, it's better to have the cable company send a install tech to come over and "setup" the box. Not only will the tech setup the box and TV with the correct HD cables, but will also need to change some settings on the box to work with your TV, so that it will perform the way it should. He'll also check to make sure that the signal feeding the box is good.
