Xylon posted several awesome comparison pic threads regarding Standard DVD vs. HD DVD or Blu Ray. Are there any comparison threads that show upconverting players vs. one of the High Def formats? I've did a search with various search strings and cannot find one. Several discuss the subject, but none post numerous picture comparisons. One thread had a single picture from another forum, but I'm looking for more than that.

Thanks!

Static screen caps won't do you a bit of good IMO...you have no idea what camera setting was used, you don't know what was done to the photo after the pic was taken, etc...plus it's a static shot.

You would need to see an actual live comparison sitting at normal viewing distance to determine for yourself how big of a difference there is between movies.

Xylon's pics on Standard vs. HD DVD are great models. I know cameras shots are not perfect, but they do show the great divide between the two picture qualities.(Failures in camera screen shots considered)

I'm already on the bandwagon, I'm looking because others asked me to do so.

You can get a good idea with the SD DVD pics threads - upconverting is a "tad" better, not even really noticable.

HD is far better, there's no real comparison, no matter what you do the information just isn't on the SD disc = you can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear.

His pics are direct screen captures so they are the best way to compare DVD to HD without getting the 2 discs and doing a comparison yourself. His standard DVD pics also are upconverted to 1080p so it is what you are actually looking for. You are talking about this thread, correct? (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=811102)

Thanks, I missed the part where his standard pics were upconverted to 1080P. What reply number?
