Hi all,

After buying a new LCD, I had to move my circa 2002 Toshiba 33" CRT upstairs. Being an idiot:mad:, I thought I could move it myself with no problems. To get the tube upstairs, we had to tilt the TV on it's side. There was definitely a sound of something inside free falling.

Needless to say, now that it's upstairs, there is a small black semicircle at the top center and the picture warps around it. And the sides are out of screen and fuzzy on the viewable edges.

So my question is: how bad did I screw up my TV? Can it be repaired? If so, how much am I looking at?

Thanks for any info.

So you dropped it? Just rotating a CRT usually doesn't cause the internals to collapse.

It might have been the yoke wedges. The deflection yoke around the neck of the pic tube has 3 or 4 wedges that hold it in position away from the pic tube bell. Their glue/tape always fails after a couple years. This would distort the picture. You should be able to see where they fell from. They are rubber wedges about 3 " long.

Didn't drop it at all. We were super careful. Just turned it on it's side and something internally fell when we did.

That seems like a perfectly logical explination. I'll look for that. Thanks a lot!
