i tried to search for a similar tread with no luck, i looked through the compatibility chart, but got lost. i was wonder if anyone could help me out.

i have a scientific atlanta 8300HD from videotron with SARA version 1.89.22.2
i bought a FreeAgent Pro 750 GB (ST307504FPB1E2-RK, P/N 9NG6BR-570, S/N 5QD0FX3T) from future shop. is there some produce to do for these units to be compatible. i tried and all i get is "The external recording device is not functioning properly. Check to make sure the power and data cable are plugged in properly."

has anyone had any luck with other internal or external drives from future shop or best buy with the 8300HD (i work there so i would rather buy there, just in case i need to return it)

I tried a FreeAgent Pro drive and it did not work. I then went with the foolproof combination of a Western Digital drive with Apricorn enclosure. Been running non-stop for a year now.
