View Full Version : Harmony 620
I was at my local Target today and they have a Harmony 620. I've never heard of this model but appears to be identical, except all black which is very nice, to the 670.
Anyone ever see this? Is there a difference between the 620 and the 670?
dx31698 12-03-07, 06:43 PM i think its exactly the same as the 670 except that its black. i also saw it at target for 150, but i just won one yesterday on ebay for 51 bucks. i think thats a steal
BillyBeatnik 12-03-07, 10:30 PM I saw it at Target a few days ago. It does appear to be a black 670. Nice looking remote.
One difference I saw was that the package said it would control 12 devices. Their 520 packaging also said 12. I know the 670 and 550 will control 15.
I can't imagine that it would be any different from the 670 as far as devices.
I cant find any official information about it on the Logitech website. I do like the all black look. A little more "high tech" looking.
A good (but outdated) overview of the Harmony lineup can be found here: http://www.remotecentral.com/cgi-bin/mboard/rc-harmony/thread.cgi?4251

It is NOT the same as the 670. The buttons on the 670 are much better suited for DVR/PVR useage. Especially skip and replay.
I got mine on Amazon on sale for $99 two weeks ago. Its $128 today, ebay might be a good bet. Its a fantastic remote!
Where are the Skip and Replay buttons on the 670?

Probably one of the six "soft" buttons flanking the lcd screen. Depending on which activity you are in ("watch movie", "watch dvr", etc.) the lcd screen will display different commands next to the soft buttons.

The button layout on the 620 is identical to my 670. Maybe you are thinking of another 600 series remote. The only place I have been able to find the 620 is at a Target store. I haven't been able to find it at target.com.

I just bought the 620 at Target (got it for $119) and I programmed the Skip Forward button (>>|) to be the 30 second skip function. I programmed the Skip back button (|<<) to be the replay button. I'm not sure there is any functional difference between the 670 and the 620. Perhaps it can't store as many devices, but it's certainly enough for me.
I picked one up today as well. Nice to see it was on sale. I am assuming that it is identical to the 670 except that it's all black. Let us know how you like it. Mine is a xmas gift so I cant use it till the 25th.
This is the only picture I've found on Logitech's site

So far I'm loving it. It took awhile to program, but it wasn't very hard. I was impressed with the programming. It's very flexible and user friendly. I use a Mac and the program functioned well. In fact the way the remote works reminds me of an Apple product. It does what you want in a very natural way.
waterskier 09-23-08, 03:10 PM Just reviving an old thread to highlight a great deal right now. Costco has a $50 off coupon for the 620 good through September 28 (included in coupon book mailed to members). The 620 is priced at $99, which is pretty much the same price BB and CC typically have the 670 on sale for (Target right now is $119). With the coupon, it is only $49. Doesn't appear to be available at their online site. Pretty sweet deal on a great remote! :)
dei08dei 09-27-08, 06:45 PM I am trying to decide if I want to pull the trigger and get one. Does this remote have the ability to recharge batteries??
I can't figure this out.I have a satellite HD DVR with DirectTV model HR20. When I try to set up my watch TV activity, I'm told I don't have a device that can change channels. Anyone have any ideas?
BTW, picked mine up at Costco today just like waterskier said. $49 Thank you.

The 620 doesn't have that ability (no base) but it doesn't state that you can't use them. Uses 4 AAA.
fishnrib 09-30-08, 09:53 AM Giving it away to my Daughter after struggling with it after about 10 editing sessions. It is not as user friendly as my Sony Programable remote which I got for $20 off Ebay. The Harmony has a great feature where it can go to the internet and copy all the codes from your original remote. But I am finding that I have to press a lot more buttons to get things done with the Harmony accessing the TV, Cable Box, and Home Theatre System (DVD/Surround Sound System).

Did you set up Activities after selecting your Devices? Activities usually require one button push, maybe two if they are on the LCD screen. Harmony remotes are Activity-based.
Bought one for my son to use after setting up his surround sound with a nice new RX-V663 receiver. His TV cycles through inputs with arrow switches. The order was not correct in the code. Had to set that up separately. Would love to have an option to NOT mess with the TV inputs since the receiver puts everything onto one HDMI cable to the TV. Anyone know how to tell the Harmony 620 to NOT want to mess with the TV inputs? Got this remote at Costco for $64.95. Don't see it on the website.

I would like to know the same thing. While it does select the correct input on my TV, it just isn't necessary as HDMI 1 is the only input that is used.
1brokebrother 12-03-08, 03:39 PM I'm sorry I don't know the direct answer to your question. I'm sure you can find the answer in the 880 forum.
I have the 620. Mine works fine.. My Harmony TV settings are set to HDMI 1 for every digital activity..
Found the answer on the logitech forums
"In Devices> Settings>Adjust Inputs reduce the list to one input and set the command for that to "none".
That applies to all Harmony models."

Was there some kind of coupon or special offer for the 620 at $64.95? It's $99.99 with a $20 instant rebate ($79.99) at my local Costco today.
