[Sorry if this has been covered a hundred times before but I did search for answer before posting........]
Whenever I try to play [the HD-DVD] of any of the 3 Matrix movies on my A35, I get either "error reading disc" or a set of numbers of the front of the player. Either way, the disc never plays. I've reset the player and tried various configurations with no luck.
Any tips or feedback is appreciated.

I played the 1st matrix movie on my 35 last night with no problems. Are the discs clean? Also what video output is your player set at? 1080p/24 or just 1080p?

Maybe try re-initializing the player in the setup menu, or doing a reboot (hold the power button in for 10 seconds).

The output is 1080P/60. I have reinitialized and cold powered / rebooted several times but still no Matrix movies will play back.

Try the discs in another HD DVD player...
Which version are you trying to play. Is it the Complete set or Ultimate version?

Let us know if they work in another HD DVD player. If they do not, then the discs are bad/damaged.

I tried them on an AX-2 and the discs play. it's not the discs.

I have the A35 with no problems. I have yet to update the firmware also, so I am wondering if the player may be defective? But other movies play just fine right?
Contact Toshiba about this problem you are having.
It wasn't mentioned yet but have you tried to clear your persistent memory. That has worked for me on the A-20 on a few occasions. Doesn't seem like this would work as in my case its only worked on discs that load but then fail to play. Certainly worth a shot though.

Will the initialization of the player clear persistent memory? What did you do to clear persistent memory?

You can delete the persistent storage separately but the initialization deletes the persistent storage and sets everything to default. I found with Alexander disc 2 that even deleting the persistent storage didn't work and I had to re-initialize the player.
sorry if I missed it but what error do you get and did you ever answer whether it worked in another player.
