View Full Version : Anyone else here behind on picking up HD DVDs?
cobolisdead 12-04-07, 11:32 AM Anyone else here have a long list of HD DVDs that are out that you still need to go pick up? I have about 15 of them that I have been putting off getting for one reason or another for about 6 months waiting for them to go on sale. I know, I really should go out and get the HD DVDs that I want to get, but with Christmas Season upon us, I have been placed in a HD DVD embargo of sorts where I am not allowed to get any HD DVDs. Anyone else out there with a giant list of released HD DVDs that you want to get?

...My A30 is just 2 weeks old, and I already bought 13 movies, so I guess I'll add 1 on 2 more to the collection when I get POTC (SD) tonight :)
Zappcatt 12-04-07, 01:21 PM I have quite a long list too. But I just had back surgery. Christmas is here. I have to throttle down my HD DVD purchasing addiction for awhile.
back surgery sounds like a great reason to splurge and buy some more to watch during recovery!!!!
i hope it went well..bad backs SUCK!!!
EIDT: I actually do not have any out there that are "must buys" I would love to own everything out there...but none of the titles I don't have are must owns for me....there are a couple on BR that are though...
eapleitez 12-04-07, 01:25 PM I'm behind quite a bit. So many releases I want, not enough mulah.
Adam_ME 12-04-07, 01:29 PM Not anymore thanks to the recent Amazon, DVD Planet, and Deep Discount DVD sales.
Christmas has put a hold on my shopping.
What I've done is just been putting titles I want into my amazon.co wishlist.
so in january I can catch up again. Right now there are 26 titles in my wishlist I want.
only thing I've bought this month has been BSG S1 HD-DVD.
Though overall I've slowed a bit since I hit the 100+ title mark.
allargon 12-04-07, 02:36 PM I have a long list. I have nearly 50 discs. WTF will I put them? I would like to rewatch them along w/ the Netflix stuff and the stuff from Dish network, etc. I work and have a life. (Really! :p) So, I've been cutting back--especially on expensive box sets and catalog titles that will be 50% off in 3-6 months.
OK, I'll say it. I buy them when they come out. I'm just waiting for more to come out. :D

impala454 12-04-07, 03:05 PM OK, I'll say it. I buy them when they come out. I'm just waiting for more to come out. :D

+1 here. I'm not all for re-buying the old movies unless they were great action flicks worthy of HD. I'll buy the new ones as they come out.
UCFKevin 12-04-07, 03:11 PM Oh yeah. 'Tis the season to not be able to get stuff for yourself.
I want:
Ocean's Trilogy
Bourne Trilogy (although when it's available I'll get this one)
Serenity
The Wild Bunch
Knocked Up
Lucky Number Slevin
Smokin Aces
Blades of Glory
Out of Sight
Apollo 13
Midnight Run
Untouchables
Those are at the top of my list.
bygdaddy 12-04-07, 03:53 PM back surgery sounds like a great reason to splurge and buy some more to watch during recovery!!!!
Unfortunately, going on disability has decreased my income to 1/3 normal.
i hope it went well..bad backs SUCK!!!
It did go well. And yes, bad backs do suck. Thanks for the thoughts.
Sorry, not trying to hijack the thread.
TV Casualty 12-04-07, 03:57 PM I haven't bought any HD DVDs in over a month...I just have other stuff I need to spend money on. I'll catch up eventually.
lilstinky 12-04-07, 05:12 PM I've only been buying Blu-Rays lately because of all the sales they have. Today is the perfect example with the BOGO deal at Amazon on Warner titles and only on the Blu versions. I would have loved to buy the four movies I picked up on HD-DVD but having them half off on Blu-Ray made the choice for me. I hate to say it but HD-DVD better get with the program on software sales or they will be trounced by Blu-Ray.
Underboss8184 12-04-07, 08:03 PM There are about 20 I still want to get, just haven't got around to it.
ragar01 12-04-07, 10:01 PM I have a long list too. Would have shortened it a bit if I hadn't popped for the Ultimate James Bond collection in SD at Costco this weekend along with Star Trek Season 1 on HD.
Timing has stunk on the sales for me.
But the discs aren't going anywhere and I have a huge backlog of HD and SD stuff to watch right now.
Gary
Next Up: Amok Time Star Trek Season 1 Disc 2 in HD, gotta love frozen maniquins.
5thDanMaster 12-04-07, 10:09 PM Anyone else here have a long list of HD DVDs that are out that you still need to go pick up?
I have.:o
I have been upgrading my entire AV system. I just got an Onkyo 805, an A35, a 7.1 speaker set up, an XA2 (which I returned), and almost bought a BD player until I found out all of the features that they are still lacking (I guess I will be HD DVD exclusive for a while longer.).
I have almost 20 movies to buy this month.:o
kevivoe 12-04-07, 10:26 PM Old school
Bourne Identity
Hot Fuzz
Feast
Send me a PM and I will sell you Feast for $10 and I pay the USPS shipping in the lower 48. Watched once, that's it.

I am wayyyyyyyy behind as far as my purchases go. I used to get them as they came out, then the "boss" found out and halted my purchases. No I have to go "stealth" and purchase in small groups hoping that they wont notice the additions :p
Atrocity 12-04-07, 11:28 PM I'm also behind on HD DVD's. I have a wishlist over at HDMovieSource.com. Can't really buy a whole lot since I got Christmas gifts to get first.

Around 30 titles or so!
Ovation 12-06-07, 05:49 PM Not "allowed" to buy any until after Christmas. That's okay, though, as I'm not "allowed" to unbox my A2 until then.
But I do have quite a list to catch up with once the moratorium is over.
hamsterxcore 12-07-07, 02:15 AM I've only been buying Blu-Rays lately because of all the sales they have. I'm in the exact same boat. With all the BOGO sales on Blu-ray I haven't really bought an HD-DVD in quite some time. I look at the $10-$13 movies I'm gettin on BD and the $20-$27 HD-DVD just isn't appealing anymore. I mostly stick to either used off of ebay or the occasional random sale like the $15 at Wal-Mart a while back. But yes, there are many titles I'm wanting to pick up, and if Universal ever decides to have a BOGO sale I'll certainly go all kid in a candy store and buy a bunch from them as well.
I'll definitely be getting the new Bourne movie next week though, reguardless of price.
